jay-cee's Build Log

Recommended Posts

Getting a 1982 Lincoln Towncar to start my new build in so say good bye to this build log. More room for more options I cant wait to go measure the trunk and take pictures of the car for you guys as well, its has candy paint on it already. Im buying it from my brother's wife, im too excited. Im thinking 2-15''s right about now, cant wait.

The only update I do have to my current equipment is the Boss Audio REV-665 amp that is on its way and I just bought some Selenium ST200 Super Tweeters which are gonna replace the Crescendo XST2 Super Tweeters.

I will definitely give you a mini-review J-Road as soon as the Selenium's get here.

I will keep this build log going with the updates till I get the Lincoln up and running ready for install. On Friday I will be ordering a 15" D2 2010 SSA Icon with the Copper Coil, its time to give a SSA subwoofer a try. Once I get the SSA Icon installed I will be selling the Sundown Z-v.1 15"(dual 4 ohm) so anybody interested keep your eyes open for a for sale thread or pm me if interested.

Here you go J-Road Tatts, not to in depth but straight to the point. If someone was on the edge of car audio and didnt know if super tweeters would be too much for you then try the Selenium ST200 and if you want louder then work your way up.

After playing them side by side, I find that the Crescendo XST2 Super Tweeters are louder and more raspy while the Selenium ST200s are smoother (if im allowed to use that word to describe a super tweeter). Honestly I love how the ST200 sounds, just ordered another pair why not. Im a dome tweeter guy and these feel like the dome tweeters of pro audio super tweeters/bullet tweeters, hope this helps someone if not :ohnoes9:

Damn I missed it, nice choice on that town car. Will be the tits when you get your audio in her. Big boat with boom!

Put up some pics of her bro.

I would agree on the tweeters, my ST350's were much smoother then the Crescendo, but I had to cross the Selenium over at 5000hz and the crescendo at 3000hz. My front mids dont like playing up that high.

I have found that if I take the gains for the highs down to -5 through the HU on the Crescendo they are not quite as raspy and sound much better. All in all the Selenium did sound better and I would agree with what you said and I wish they would work out on my install. Luckily I made the baffles where I can try out some more later.

Horns would be the ticket, but damn I really dont want to go through all that and they are $$$!

Yeah I feel you Sir-Lancelot sorry about making you switch them out but I knew you wanted something that would cross lower. The fact is that you can cross the Seleniums lower, you just cant throw a boat load of power at them when crossed down to 3,000 or 4,000hz. Yeah I hope these Seleniums will do the ticket as I know what I will be buying if they dont, at least these super tweeters are cheaper than anything else in car audio. The horns are my next and last choice so I know what to do if I ever want to change, but hopefully these two pair of ST200's do the trick.

When me and my brother start talking again I will get pictures of the Lincoln, the same day I told him I wanted to buy it later that night we got into a fight. Considering he was leaving the Texas Rangers game and intoxicated he wanted to talk shit and I had to body slam his ass so his panties are in a bunch right now but its cool (my mom and brother in law had to break us up).

Haha yeah I cant beat a 1982 Lincoln Towncar with candy paint(very wet) for $500, it will be a project/daily car for a while.

2010 SSA Icon (copper coil, D20) is ordered so if anyone is interested in a Sundown Zv.1 15" (D4) then let me know, pm me.\ :dancing::bigok:

Boss Amp REV-665 (Zed Built), this is the sexiest amp I have ever owned. Plexi Glass, 14K gold connections I could go on but just look at the pictures:

I did just pick up the Boss and that is for my highs, I have a temporary 2 channel amp for now on my mids but not the final amp. Im looking at a Zed Audio Kronos or Cadence ZRS-2002 for my mids, size is the overall determination so I gotta wait to see on that.

By the way love the box design man, definitely will be needing another one in the near future so be on the lookout for a pm from me man. :thanx:

Yeah no problem on the design. If you plan on keeping the Boss the Kronos wouldn't be a bad option as it should kinda match aesthetically with the clear plexi tops.

Thats what I was thinking, both amps will have a plexi cover with grey casing and both made by Zed. You cant beat that anywhere, thanks for the input as we are on the same page.

My attempt in a temporary seal until my sub gets here, I thought you guys would get a kick out of it:

Im still thinking of ways of how I want to seal off the cabin from the trunk I will put plastic around the box and frame of the car so it can be removed easily when I use expanding foam, if I use it. Im also thinking I may want to build another box and possibly tune it lower but I will wait till the sub gets here and see how it performs in the current box. Dont flame me to bad :ughdunno:

Oh boy did I have big plans for that rear deck if you were wondering, never finished it (time to get a new cover but not a main priority).

I'll be able to tell how well they match up with my Leviathan when mine arrives.rofl2.gif

Well keep me posted as I think my mind is made up on the Zed Audio Kronos since I will be able to put it on my 40fold seat with no problem and room to spare since the Boss is on the 60fold seat.

What is that, a down blanket? Did it help get some bass up front?

May be better to build a new box if you are going to use spray foam to seal it off or it looks like you will need a shit load of it.

I am happy for you man, you are getting there now. :drink40:

yeah for :morepower1: , it helped probably like 5% at its best only at low volumes really. Just did it for kicks definitely wont stay that way, regardless blanket there or not I like it firing into the cabin more than the rear. My trunk and license plate would rattle like crazy but not as much now, I just gotta get rid of the rattle of the shit underneath the car caused from the low tuning of my last box (26hz).

Im thinking of tuning my new box to 27 or 28hz if I do rebuild, most say you wont notice something but hey guess call it a personal preference.
