Nightshade or SXX?

Recommended Posts

So I'm getting a Sundown SAZ-1500D AMP from a member on here, when I stumbled upon a Sundown Nightshade 15" D2 for a really good deal, I know nothing about the sub.

The car will be a daily driver and I was originally going with a RE Audio SXX 15" D2, so is the sundown a better sub?

Pro's and Con's of both?

the Nightshade, it will handle much more power, the SXX will most likely not take the power of the 1500d. the 1500d will be closer to a 2000 watt amplifier, the Nightshade will handle that with ease, the SXX on the other hand, would not recommend doubling its thermal handling. The nightshade can put up impressive numbers, handle huge amounts of power, and also are quite musical for a daily driver. Sundown NS FTW on this one easily!

Yeah I hear you on the power handling, my goal is a daily driven system that is rock solid reliable with good SQ but also impressive SPL.

I don't know if there is such a thing but im going to try and achieve it.

My only concern is the Nightshade will have to be used and its no longer in production :-/

I might try and see if I can afford a RE 15 MX that could handle the power, but also I could just get a RE 15 SXX D4 and run it at 2ohms to be closer to its power handling?

why RE? why not a Fi BL? RE is expensive, and I would much rather buy a product from Scott rather than the old company he worked with. an SSA Xcon would work quite well for you too. fully loaded BL, or an SSA Xcon would be my recommendation.

I've never heard the NS, but I know they perform well in spl competitions.

Musical sub + impressive spl + 1500 watts available = Xcon !!!

Xcons are so loud, when we make demos of just a 15" xcon, the first thing people say is "get out, how can you stay in the car with so much bass?!!"

These people never say that when listening to the spl installs playing around!!!!!

Ok so if I go with a SSA XCON 15 D2 how is the customer support? Does SSA stand behind the sub?

I was just reading about it in the SSA Store and wholy shit 1750rms and 31mm of excursion!!! Wow thats impressive.

What do you guys think about a Ported to 35hz or Sealed enclosure....

I love how tight sealed is but im not sure about how this sub handles it, and for ""SQL"" I bet Sealed will sound nicer.

Im pretty sure they do considering they have a 24/7 forum for support, help and any other technical services that are needed to their customers and non-customers.

Did you place your order through the SSA store? I ask as there are no 15" Xcon orders for the last 9 days. And that one went to California.
