Kicker box build.....

Okay, I have a guy that lives behind me that has three 12" Kicker CVR's . He currently has them in a very crappy box and is wanting me to throw a better box together for him.

I stand to make a few bucks from this project. that is all. there is no possibility of him competing or even keeping this setup long term. just a better box than he has and some cash in ol' chop's pocket.

So for the sake of getting good responses, i am not looking to buy these, i only want to get some good input on what volume and tunning would be good for them to get loud with. not a fart box, but i am sure he has no interest in catching the lows.

I have not used these subs before..... off the top of my head i would think 2 cubes per and tune to 36 hz. ..........is this good enough for these subs? i wish i could tell you what power he will have running to them but i really don't think he will know either, lol. so i will assume the rated power will be supplied for this build.

also .... the specs say they can either be 2 or 4 ohm vc's........... without a dmm, is there any way of telling on these subs what the impedance is? like visually i am saying. if not i will try to get mikeys.

so ..... volume and tunning for three 12" cvr's in the trunk of a mid 90's caprice..... port and subs friring to the rear..... slot port......... any suggestions?

Probably about 6.75 ft3 after all displacements at 36hz would be good chop.

Check that. If he has no interest in the lows and just wants it loud then about 40-45hz.

Ive always like the slot port. Both rear firing sounds like a good place to start.

The D2's will wire to 1.34ohms and the D4's will be 2.67ohms. Hopefully his amp is 1 ohm stable.

perhaps 38 hz. will do then..... not sure what these subs will do....

Actually the D4's can be wired to 1.33334 ohms, I dont know how I just know they can. My friend has 3-12" CVRs tuned to 30 Hz and bangs but he has some funky wiring, me and the local car audio shop were suprised because we didnt think he was wired that low and sure damn was.

Yeah Im pretty sure beause when I was ordering my D2 ohm CVX's and we were talking about how mine can be wired to 1.3333 ohms and his cant since his cvr's where D4 but he should me and it is some crazy wiring that I cant even remember off the top of my head (its rather confusing but it drops him down to close to a 1 ohm load.

i think he currently has a 2 ohm stable amp....

does the cvr's have any markings that would note the impedance?

i have not played with the odd numbers when it comes to ohms.... would these numbers do okay on the corrasponding amps?

like 1.34 ohms.... is that okay for a 1 ohm stable amp..... is there any information to be noted?

same question toward the 2 ohm rating also.....

As long as the load of the speakers is less than the amp load then your cool, 1.3333 will work fine for 1 ohm stable amp (I wouldnt try it on a 2 ohm stable amp). 2.67 speaker load will do fine on a 2 ohm stable amp.

www.the12volt.com will help you in multiple subwoofer wiring, and yeah they should have markings on them (my CVX's do). If not then just get a dmm, that will get it for you if the subs dont have markings.

i have tried kicker factory rec specs & its 1 of those few main stream companies that actually work good so go to their website & see what they have
