I need a 15" sub

Recommended Posts

What do you want? More SPL or SQ? I mean any Fi sub is going to sound good and be loud. I mean even the SQ sub (the Q) is loud and will make shit vibrate in your vehicle unless it is properly matted.. but you'll probably still have rattles.. so the question is how loud do you want to be and what are the parameters of that box? (assuming you will use that one) unless you're planning on building another?

But, for that amp you should be fine running any Fi woofer. But the BTL will be underpowered.. Id go with a Dual 2 ohm sub running it at 1 ohm getting 1500 watts RMS.. For being loud, i'd say the BL (with options to increase RMS) or the Q to still be loud but to be more musical with amp gain set accordingly.

Why do you want the ability to re-cone? Sounds like you plan on blowing it.

my car vibrates with a 300W 12" system, i get use to it, i have put $100+ of wholesale priced dynamat in it

i dont want the btl but prob the bl just with what options

the box is 20x20x14, about 3.1 cuft is what the guy said who gave me the design

That box is to small for a 15" IMO Is it sealed or ported?

ported but the only thing that fits in my car, i built it to exact dimensions of my car

Then you shouldn't be running a 15". A single 12" in the proper box would out perform a 15" in a chocked box.

I blew my Fusion Powerplant 15" and now have a box and amp just sitting in my garage

i want a new sub i can re-cone

so which FI sub do i need, i have this amp:

http://www.fusioncaraudio.com/north-and-south-america/car-audio-1/amplifiers-7/ppam300010-50-product.aspx

1300W at 2 ohm and 1500W at 1 ohm

so which one does everyone recommend

Thanks

Patrick

I think you need to learn how to set your amps settings before getting purchasing another subwoofer just to damage it. What do you mean you want a new sub you can recone (thats ridiculous, just a waste of money).

Save this somewhere on your computer for future reference so you dont keep fucking up equipment:

Head Unit Settings

Bass Boost/Exend = Off

Loud/Loundness = Off

Sub Level: + whatever yours goes up to minus a few whatever your preference

Bass = 0 or lower, whatever your preference

Amp Settings

Gain = Set with DMM (with a 50Hz test tone and at subs rms or amps rms whichever is lower), no more than 50-60% if you dont have one.

LPF = 100Hz or lower whatever your preference

Bass Boost = Off

SSF = 1-5 Hz lower than box tuning, or until subs start to reach its excursion level.

all the amp settings were fine, i know how to set that, i just accidentally wired it as a 1 ohm instead of 2

i cant set my hu bc its a stock one and i dont want to replace it (i will look really bad in a bmw)

i had those settings on my amp though, i actually made sure it wasnt all the way up bc i didnt want to blow it, ironic i know

Well your box isn't big enough for a 15", maybe a cheap one. But not a good 15".

You would be MUCH happier with a kickass 12" in the proper box. What is your current box tuned to?

It is impossible to wire a DVC woofer to either 1 or 2. You don't have the ability to do both in anyway at all.

ok i dont care if everyone thinks my box is too small or how i blew my last one

i just want to know which FI sub to buy, well actually what options on the BL should i get

Well your not going to get much help here to be honest.

Fi doesn't want to have to warranty you a woofer because your not smart enough to know how to use it.

Your thinking about this all wrong and just trying to be all the kids in your area. Why don't you try to make it sound better, and be louder.

i know how to use it, i have setup many for friends and i have had my rockfords for over 2 years without problems (i started driving at 15 b/c of SC law)

thats why i want an fi sub and not another fusion

You probably wouldn't hear a difference. If anything it will sound worse because of the box.

What is so bad about running a single 12"?

Well since you come in here with an attitude when people are trying to help you shows your age (you think you know more than everybody which we arent about and if thats the case then you shouldnt have asked a question). Personally you cant tell me you know how to set an amp up but didnt know that you cant wire the same sub in 1 or 2 ohms or let alone had it wired wrong in the first place if thats believeable.

Getting this because people at your school have them is not good, dont be like others be better. Personally a box to small for a sub is ridiculous and a waste for the sub and system. Were trying to help you get the most out of your system, which we do here and if thats not what you want then sorry for helping. I personally would make another box for a 12 ported or 2-10"s just my .02 but if your stuck on a 15" subwoofer then just buy cause it wont matter what you get it wont perform well (it will still do its just and produce bass but dont be upset when someone with a 12" subwoofer makes yours look like ass).

He wants to be like the people at school and have a 15", some people rather be cool than care about performance.

That's how most kids are though, one kid does it and he gets a little attention, or more so then the others, then EVERYONE has to do it to.

actually i dont think you all understand what im saying

i dont know anybody with a n fi sub, i just heard how good they are

i know a lot of people with stuff like sony and bad alpine, so yes i do want it to sound better, and probably anything will

i spent a lot of money making my 15" box thats why i want to keep it

i dont think i know everything, i actually know i dont know everything and i have found that out with other projects ive had

thats why i came here asking which 15" sub i should get

Sell the 15" box, build a 12", and run a BL 12".

Plain and simple, do that and it will pound.

And NO, not anything will sound better, putting a large woofer into a small box makes the woofer choke and it sound horrible. So, you shouldn't get a 15" sub, simple as that. Take it from another school kid, do not get another 15". Unless you build a bigger box somehow.

And we are trying to explain to you that a 15" is not what you need if you dont have the space for it, the 12" will perform better in that area. I would go for a fully loaded 12" BL Dual 2 ohm (so you can wire it to 1 ohm) and call it a day, build a new box (they are cheap to make and helps with building experience and skills). I just threw away my first box I built and it took me almost two months to do so but hey you have to let things go to advance (it hurts to lose a box but I can also build another one and make it better, thats how i look at it). Just my .02 and if you dont want to follow our input then go buy a 15" BL Dual 2 ohm and have a nice day.

I have a idea. How about 2 12 ssd sealed. 2 12 have move more air than a 15 plus now you can handle up to 2000 watts stock.

Wow That is about the dumbest thing I have ever read. Never post again.

and WTF is "stock" on woofers?
