fitting fi q 10

Recommended Posts

I have a 98 single cab ford ranger. Idk if I'll be satisfied with shallow mounts. I've been looking into the fi q. I really think I could fit it behind the seats with he sub directly behind the armrest. I think the recommended sealed volume is about .6-.8 cu ft for one 10" , and I've always wanted to try a Q out. Especially for lows.

Anyone see any hope in this? I'm starting to become a little discouraged. According to box calculators, I could make the box out to about .8 after sub displacement.

If I should just stop wasting my time and settle on shallow mounts, please give me cheap recommendations. I've never really heard one.

Its .2-.6 for a ten I believe. I dont see why it cant work with the right enclosure.

The only advantage of shallow mounts is depth, so without knowing if the Q will fit in your box it is hard to comment.

I measured it out, and mounting depth wise, I could fit it

What's your question then? If you measured it and it will fit, build the box! You just need about 11" in total depth for it to fit. 6.5" for the mounting depth, about 1.5" behind the sub for the pole vent, 3/4" for the wood on the backside, and 2-2.5" in front of the baffle for the sub mounting flange and excursion.

Just Don't Buy Any Of Those Damn Frisbee-Lookin' Shallow Mounts, If You Do, You'll Know Why I Said This.

(That's What I Used Them As, I Was Given Two For Free By My Friend, I Didn't Have The Heart To Refuse.)

You Should Be Fine, Even If You're Not, Take The Console Out If You Have Buckets And Build A Console/Enclosure Combo.

When It Comes To Car Audio In Any Of My Vehicles, I Make Space My Bitch, I WILL Fit What I Can/Want In There Optimally.

I guess that answers it. I really don't have 11" total. I didn't even consider having the 1.5" behind or baffle. I got way ahead of myself.

there are three types of enclosures I like for trucks, 1) no back seat with a wall, 2) if no back seat to take out, blow-through 3) if you don't have the balls to cut up your truck for a blow-through, then at least take out your center console!

lol just my .02 cents, cause like BigC said, decide on what you want and make it possible, no fun to compromise then not have sound that you wanted have. feels like waste of money then
