So i work at Best BUy need sugestions

Recommended Posts

ok So ive been looking at build logs for awhile been on a member on ca for a while just never really posted anything. They'll make you wanna choke em some of the shyt they do. But i work at best buy and we get a pretty good discount on the speakers and stuff. So im trying 2 decide between a rf 1000bd thousand watts at 1ohm or an alpine mrp 1000 thousand watts at 2 ohms gonna get p3's or type Arghhs 12's. Just dont know much about either brand i've only owned kenwood excelon. Heard some rf stuff in my unkles tsx they where pretty loud, But i kno that the alpine subs atleast are over rated but the amps i hear get hot quick. Hopefully i dont get flamed for not having pics even though they'd only b of an ugly galant. But looking at getting all the equipment by the end of the month looking at the amp next week. But any suggestions or insight would be great. Also would love to get a box built our prefabs not too great..

Lol well, if its a good discount and you are 100% set on shopping at Best Buy for your product, definitely get two Alpine 12" Type Rs. They actually are pretty darn good considering they sell that them at best buy. Secondly, go with the RF t1000.1bd

It's a better amp and is underrated by 30-40% :]

I've seen BNIB Alpine 12" Arrghhsss going for $125 on forums so hopefully you get an even better deal lol

i would think even with a discount you could find everything you want on ebay for cheaper than at best buy.

start looking into some of the brands that get represented on here. like if oyu wanted type r's then maybe you would consider some fi ssd instead or maybe a single Fi Q or an ssa icon or any of them actually!!! i would say continue to do research and spend the money wisely.

There are a lot of great people on SSA who would love to help you, but you need to follow the guidelines for posting.

If you want warranty, stick with Best buy. If you want quality and loudness minus the price tag, I recommend Audioque's HDC3's :] a pair will blow the **** out of your car

ok so i read some of the newbie pinned notes lol.

Ok so this all going in a daily 96 galant. Just trying to get a good bump out of my system maybe pull up to the guys in their donks with the big rims, grille speaker and trunk rattle and maybe turn their heads.. Ok on price range I AM A full time student athlete so not much time or money. For the box want ported but its kinda a small trunk so may have to go sealed. Just got the box from my brother who just shipped out to basic for the Airforce. The electrical is all stock may try to get some knu wiring and try my hand at a big 3 upgrade but wanna wait to get everything else together. Current system just a jvc head unit, a single infinity 12 in prefab ported box, off brand amp, and eq just sitting in my living room really dont wanna waste my time hooking that stuff up.

So your saying the rockfords aren't aren't good quality i've heard some before in my uncles tsx he had a full blown sytem with battery's custom box all that jazz and they impressed me off a rf 500. and im basically getting the subs for a hundred bucks a piece before tax so i could go with like 4 12's if they could fit or 10's. and i dont have the funds to drop 500 bucks on subs mahn maybe after college i'll have dough like that..

If youre stuck shopping at best buy then get the type r's, I havent heard a RF P3, but out of the RF stuff I have heard (stage 2 12, punch HX2 12, punch HE 10) I have liked the type r's the most. the HX2 was louder, but I think the type r wasnt too far behind, and I think sounded better. of course every sub was in a different box, all were ported though.

and the amp you should get depends on the subs you get, does best buy carry the D2 and D4 type r's? if not and your getting a pair of subs, then get the RF for the D4's and the alpine for the D2's.

Noooooo. I'm saying definitely go with the rockford amp.. RF amps are quite good for what YOU pay for :] that 1000 watt will do around 1300-1400 watts RMS and be 1 ohm stable. Just go for 2 Alpine R's 12" and wire it to one sub. You can always later add matching type R's or even just one more. R's sound really good considering and will be much louder and deeper than RF's subwoofers. So, RF amp, Alpine R's at Best buy

Unfortunately, I don't think Best Buy sells the New type R's which are rated at 750 watts RMS? I couldn't find them on bestbuy

Any of the good companies will have warranty. You don't just have to buy from Best Buy for a warranty. The only thing that isn't warrantied is user error.

yeah the rockford amps are very under rated i run 2 1000bds n they put out 1500 a piece and are very efficent on batteries you wont need alot of batteries or anything, and deff the type rs they can handle alot if you can do 4 type rs and 2 1000 watt amps you will b hitting hard what kind of car do you have

Can you give us a little more info on goals and budget as asked above as I don't want to start suggesting something that is incorrect or not right for your install. I have my preferences, but you and I are two different people. Also, are you going to do any electrical upgrades or sound deadening? (We are into properly set up and respectful audio here) ;)

I have all my manufacturer warranties on the shop at soundsolutionsaudio.com.

I hope to never have to use the warranties, but I am sure it would be easy to use them here!!!

Make things a little easy. Whats your goal and budget?

budget is around 500 600 bucks not including box and wiring thats just how much i wanna spend on the amp and subs. Been looking at the audioQue stuff may try some street level 15's or just do the type r's wait awhile and upgrade 2 a 15hdc... And goal it's gonna be a daily driver really just wanna be loud and clear louder than my buddies caprice on 24's atleast he has power akoustics sub amp and cap so wont be that hard..
