Proper Vented Enclosure for SI D2

I have a 12 spoke SI D2 and right now it is running in a sealed enclosure and it is not suiting my needs. I was told if I ported it, it would be a whole other sub. Supposedly sound incredible. Just wondering if anyone could help me out with some box dimensions for a ported enclosure. THe best way to get ahold of me would be to email me at [email protected]

2 cubes vented is what Nick recommends and it works VERY well. YOu can play with the volume, tuning and port area to better suit your needs. What are your goals for the driver?

I wanna see what this sub can do. I am not going for total SPL but I wanna turn some heads. I appreciate any feedback.

HOw much power do you have on hand?

Personally, I would go 2.5 cubes with 35-40 square inches of port area tuned between 35-38Hz. Start out with about 600 watts and increase until you feel safe without doing any damage. The driver will tell you when it's had too much. Don't want to damage it.

Also, keep in mind I am a SQ freak and not too knowledgeable in the SPL department.

I have a crossfire VR1000d feeding it right now with the gains turned down in sealed enclosure. I appreciate all this help. Makes things run smoother for me.

The new 12's technically like larger boxes than the previous models, but they will still do well in the shoebox sized enclosures. The 15's, on the other hand, will work well in smaller boxes than what our previous 15's were spec'd at.

humm very interesting, I ask because I had the prototype in a 2 cube box and it did very well with solid SQ, so would it have faired better in 2.5 or 2.75 cubes with out sacrificing SQ?

Nope, 2 cubes is just fine for a 12. Anything larger is just wasting space...unless you're doing some really wicked stuff.
