Sub tuning wont necessarily hurt the sub, they recommend that tuning because thats where the sub best performs at without losing some output. All your gonna do is loose some higher notes and crush more lows with that tuning.

The question is why 26.5Hz instead of 28Hz, what are you looking for?

idk...im just looking for a little more output in the lows section...i listen to alot of chopped and screwed music, so losing a little bit of highs isnt a big deal for me. im gonna get some better doors so that might help a little bit but all in all it isnt a big deal. the box i have now is tuned to 28 and it gets loud low, but i figured i dont really have anything else to do today and 2marrow so i could build a box and then if it helps, i will use it. if not then i will swap them out lol.

sig says tunning is 31hz. , is this a seond box you have now?

if so how is it currently fashioned in the vehicle? like port and sub placement?

if you want louder, lower, as you said, tuning lower will miss the louder part, if i understand it all correctly.

if you are into throwing one together for kicks, hoping to get a little louder, perhaps look into a little higher tunning .....

that q should handle your lows pretty well on chopped and screwed tracks , assuming your amp and head unit is set accordingly.

just my .02 , just surfing around and thought i would throw you a comment,

good luck,

chop

this is a second box that i have now. 28 hz. sub and port up. the first box sounded great all around, the 28 hz box got a little lower, im hoping this 3rd box will be even stronger in the lows section.

You aren't going to gain anything by doing that, but will lose output. Really isn't worth it in a car.

how much airspace is the 28hz tuned box? i had a single 15" Q setup before 4.8cubes tuned to 28hz. absolutely crushed the lows, the lower the better. you aren't going to notice 26.5 from 28. now changing airspace/port dimensions, that can change a lot. all tuning does is target a somewhat broad freq. range of where you are mostly going to play your music. 28hz tuning basically allows you to play anything, since the average human ear only picks up from 20hz and above. if you wanna get crazy, and really notice a difference, try building a box closer to 8 cuft after port and displacement, and tune it 24-26 hz, if you want something different, IMO 28 is plenty low. and use 16 sq. in of port per cube, or 8x16= 128 sq. in. of port for a 8cuft box. that will allow you to move more air, and the larger box will make the sub more sensitive to the lower notes.

LOL hey nick, he's the one that asked....we are just giving him the info...experimenting is fun, I, personally, have never unintentionally blown or damaged a speaker. the reason why, is you have to know your system's limits. for example: if you go on a road trip, even a short one, remember you can't bang it full tilt the whole time on the highway, and make sure you turn it down, or off when you start to smell somethin :)
