umm why is your bass boost half way up on your amp? also how do you knwo it is clipping i aassume you can hear it if you have that kind a power but did you put it on an oscope? also what is your rca voltage? are you using any kind of line drivers? also maybe the issue is with the remote? maybe it is a bass boost remote rather then a gain remote?

sorry i don't mean to under mind you or anything like that.

Turn the bass boost off and reset the gain. You probably have the boost frequencies boosted so much that they make the amp clip long before it's even at RMS power in other frequencies.

X2 I have the same amp but the 05Kx version and I have my bass boost all the way down and gain about 67% up. No problems whatsoever. Who told you to have the bass boost up and gain down??

CrazyKenKid

I had the amp and subs installed at a local shop...they said that they set everything for me...that if I wanted more bass...all I needed to do was turn up the remote bass...but when I play certain songs with a lot of bass the subs cut off...then I looked at the amps and the amps are going into protection mode when the bass hit...so first I turned down the the bass boost down...it did nothing...then I turned the gain down all the way...they told me that they used the scope on the amps and we metered it...my RCA volts are 2.2...I do not have any line drivers...

KU40

I do not know how to set the gain properly so that is why I sent it to the shop...if you have any advice on how to do it I would gladly listen...I thought I knew what I was doing...until I talked to someone who knew...then I realized I was way off so I just had everything done by the shop...

also...they hooked up the second amps RCAs from the out put of the first amp...so do I set the second amp the same why I do the first one or do I just leave it lone...

How do you know its clipping?

I think there are all sorts of things wrong with what they did, but really knowing how everything is set will help.

**i agree completely with turning the bass boost OFF everywhere and then setting your gain conservatively with a DMM. You should also check your impedance as they might have everything jacked.

amps dont go into protect when they clip..

I'm curious as to why your amps are going into protect when u "crank it".

How many batts and what kind do you have in the back?

If you have none.. then you have a low voltage problem and probably why amps are shutting off.

It's also possible the subs are wired wrong to the amp.

Those amps are only 2 ohm stable so if u have a DMM (digital multimeter), while the stereo is turned off, set DMM to ohms, touch probes together so u can get a reading and if it reads anything other than 0, subtract thsi number from the metered number. Now, connect probes to speaker terminals on each amp and measure resistance. IT should NOT read any lower than 1.3-1.4 ohms.

If it reads ~ 0.7 then they have it wired wrong.

that is what someone also told me...they maybe my amps are not clipping...but the are actually turning off because I do not have enough power for them...I have two red top batteries...to go with the alternators I wanted get two Powermaster d3100s...I am going to set the amps at before the start cutting out...then turn on on everything in my truck to use power to see if it starts to cut off with out my touching anything on the amps...if it does I believe that it is a power problem...does that make sense to anyone else...???

You definitely need to turn the bass boost off and go from there.

mine does the same thing and i have a 300 ho amp with an extra red top the gain for now is less than half till i can afford more batts

its low voltage your problem so play safe right now and fix the mistake from the shop no bass boost only gain

and no dont set it the way your thinking your going to put to much pressure on your amps like that get a dmm a set to where no were near you drop from 13 v below that your amp will struggle

I agree I payed to much money to have all this break down on me over something simple to fix...for the charging system...I will have two 275 amp alternators and two D3100...wired up with 0/1 guage...is that enough ...???...or will I need more???

I think two 275 amp alternators is a little too much. One should do, and with batteries, and the Big 3 upgrade. But what you stated is fine. Where are you located, maybe someone local can troubleshoot for you

go with the two alternators and a couple of batts, my good those 2500 comes with a 300 amp fuse and you have two2500, so i say you don't have enough power right now to properly run those 2 monster amps
