Looking for subs for truck

Recommended Posts

1000 watts rms would be insanely sweet, but the middle seat is attached to the drivers. And I love my middle console compartment, or else that would be a good option. I'll definitely start looking around. Although I said I decided on 2 8's, I just don't think that' will satisfy me. I'm thinking about just getting 1 shallow mount 12" and seeing how I like that, and based on that I'll see if I want to upgrade to 2 in time. Still not sure though. I'm so indecisive. I've went through too many subs throughout my time, so I'm trying to decide for a longer term set up.

The sundowns are nice. Heard 4 of them and loved them.

Another brand of shallow that I love is Clarions.

doesnt look like it.. your could build a box in front of the center console, between the seat and dash, on the floor. and run an external port under the seat if u have to...

your going to have measure your space and get back to use with some numbers

Alright. I have to go to work in about ten minutes, but once I get off I'll start measuring. If not tonight, tomorrow. What measurements are you looking for? Behind the seats? Length width depth?

where ever your would like to put the sub(s)...

some places could be: behind the seat(s), under the seats, on the floor between the center console and dash (if you dont have a floor shifter thingy).. or where else you can come up with.

Well, it's a manual so I couldn't do between the center console and the dash. I really want to do it behind the seats. I don't know if I can fit them under the seats, or If i want to. Think under is a better idea?

Pioneer shallow mounts are not all that bad. I have put in 2 pairs and the bang without hanging and sounding like a dying pig.

lol, a dying pig? Nice. I'll definitely start opening up my options again. Set backs in money have made me put my priorities straight so the subs will probably have to wait a while, so I have plenty of time to full on decide. I just wish I could hear them in person. I'm even thinking about seeing if I could fit a regular sized sub in the back and going a little bigger. The box might be small and a little under recommended size, but we'll see. I got offered a really good deal from a friend on 3 kicker comps and a 2400w amp, but I think I just want the amp. Depending on specs of course.

Either way, anybody have any videos that do shallow mount subs justice? I know you can't full on comprehend the sound from a video, but most of the shallow mount videos on youtube are recorded with pretty shitty cameras. Or any suggestions on regular sized subs that take tiny boxes? As long as the mounting depth is below 7", I should be able to work something out.

TS-SW251 is the model number. THEY NEED at least .5 cft. You go smaller than recommended they dont get very low at all.

I've got a nearly new pair of MA Audio HK101F flat truck woofers. they were installed one day and removed--the box that was built set too close to the seat ant they hit. One woofer has a scuff from it hittin on the one song it played. Works great sounds good in 1.5ish cubes ported for the pair... not sure on sealed

$100 shipped in USA :D

I'll definitely look into those! 100 shipped sounds pretty good. All depends on how much the truck payment sets me back =), and how low I can get my buddy to go on that price for the amp. Think I could fit 1.5 cubes behind the seats in a ranger? God I need to go out and measure.

I've also got a Massive audio "Plate amp" (like a home theater amp but for the car) it'd be good for 500 watts rms to the MA audio's. I could do subs and amp for 180 shipped...

(plate amp has been used for power testing but not for daily use... did 550watts on 13.1v)
