SAX-100.4 and Tempo 6's for maybe going active?

Recommended Posts

Hey all I currently have an SUV and the rear fill speakers which are Morel Tempo 6's have messed up x-overs. I've tried to call morel and it wasnt a help, I called local dealers and they werent a help either, it turns out I would have to buy a new set and I cant do that right now.

So I was wondering if somebody can help me figure something out, should I just hook the mids and tweets up to the SAX directly and adjust things from the amp? you know x-over settings? I wouldnt really know what to set them at.

My Headunit is a Kenwood DDX712 if that will help.

Thanks

soo....does that mean the tweets are for sale?

to do what you speak of is called running 'active', you would need to have the midbass connected to 1 set of channels, and the tweeters connected to another, thus using all 4 channels of the amp for your rear speakers.

its actually better than using 'passive' crossovers (the ones that come with your component set).

if your interested, I have a pair of 6x9 JL evolution vr690 cxi coaxils for sale.

you cannot run coaxils active, only component sets.

I understand the part about connecting each seperate speaker to it's own channel but for the tweeters don't I have to put like a capacitor inline somewhere so the lower frequencies don't fry the tweeter? Thanks for the help and I will keep my ears open about your coaxs but I kind of want to learn about going active and I think now is a perfect time.

you need an amp with crossovers (sax100.4) you set the high pass to lets say 2000, then all frequencies over 2000 will 'pass' (play) and frequencies under that will be lowered by (i think 24 db, maybe 12)

With your woofers you set the low pass to whatever, and frequencies lower than that point will pass, while frequencies higher will be lowered by 24 db or 12 db.

At least thats how I think it works....Right?

Does the SAX100.4 allow you to do a highpass and lowpass on tweeters?

you can use the subsonic filter as a highpass for the midbassdrivers, right?
