Sax 100.4 and an 8 volt input?

Recommended Posts

Can a SAX100.4 handle an 8v input. The deck I plan on using is an Eclipse CD5000. I just want to make sure so I don't burn the inputs on the amp.

i am pretty sure once you install that deck and start using it and place an voltmeter over the rca's you will find that the voltage isn't 8volts but the voltage at the rca's will vary as you turn up or turn down the volume. my h/u is rated at 5volt pre-out and i get around 1.5volts at best!

it will be just fine<once you split it between you sub amps > i run both my 8v eclipse head unit with no issues ..just wont need hardly and gain on the amp

You can also set the gains with the head unit volume on 1/2 instead of 3/4. That will lower input voltage to the amps.

Then just don't turn it up past where you set your gains.

As stated though you will never see 8v out of music

The way some companies market specs is comical, you'll never see 8v outta that deck. Run it without worry.

I'm not sure which model of Eclipse it was, but I know somebody scoped the outputs on one of them and it actually did measure a full 8 volts, but the more astonishing thing was that it was unclipped even at 100% on the volume knob. This was probably 5 years ago.
