spl truck

Recommended Posts

Looking for ideas based on experience!

My shop has a 1998 Chevy extended cab being used for SPL competing in USACI Modified. We will be using four AddictiveAudio V4 15" woofers with roughly 12,000 watts rms. My question is how should the enclosure be built for max spl? Just looking for ideas here.. we are stuck at 157.6 db on the term-lab at drivers kickpanel.

The whole bare interior has been sprayed with multiple layers of noise killer blue, rear windows have been urethaned shut, 3rd door has been urethaned shut and the enclosure has been expandafoamed into the vehicle, sealed front to back.

ok, do u leave all panels off of vehicle? If you don't try that and see if that doesn help.

Make sure port is on passenger side.

if that's the design in your avatar, it needs to be rebuilt with the port on passenger side if metering on driver's side.

close all vents, drop sun visors down so they are aiming at your stomach on both sides of car. Heat the air up in there prior to running. Make sure the heat doesnt get into the box though, just in the cabin area. This will allow the air molecules to move faster.

Resin the hell out of the inside of the box. start fiberglassing the floor and headliner if it's legal.

My avatar is a old pic of my Civic.. In the class that we are in we cannot modify the vehicle from the b pillar forward.. the enclosure has the port on the driver side and meters best with meter in drivers kick and passenger door open. we will be resining the enclosure this week too. here's a pic of enclosure l_c97bacb1a3014b0ea1f3518aeae51e89.jpg

the driver side kick is metering louder than the passenger side kick?

You must be moving a LOT of air.

We have a prostock s10 that is currently burping 159.6@ 65hz on term-lab at drivers kick passenger door open.. but the truck doing a 157db is way louder by ear!
