Why does it take so long to contact FI?

Recommended Posts

I was just curious as to why it takes so long. Ive been waiting 6 weeks so far on one, email, 4 weeks on another, and 3 weeks on my last email. I've been trying to get information before I place my order but I'm pretty reluctant to order now with NO customer service. Is there no phone number?

Busy buddy. Why don't you ask for your info right here on the forum. Nick and the other guys from fi might just answer your questions on here. Or some other folks might help you also. I used to have the number but not anymore. What do you want to know?

is there no way to call and actually speak with someone at FI? and I have searched the forums, it seems that the IB3 is not a very popular sub, there were only a few threads and none pertained to my issue

So what would the issue be?

We've got a cult over at home theater shack that use a bunch of them in various HT installs..as well as quite a few guys that run them in IB installs in SQ cars...

Most of them do not come on any forums..

its a pretty simple question really. I have a 12.5cubic foot trunk i have sealed off completely from the cabin. I am getting ready to use one Ib3 18 in that install on a SS475.1, is that enough power? should i vent the trunk to outside atmosphere to get a more realistic IB setup or is 12.5 enough, can I run a pair ?

In a car you really do not have to follow the 10 x vas rule that is 'typical' for an IB install in a house/home theater.

If you can physically mount a pair of 18's then go for it 550w is enough power to get one to full stroke @ 20Hz.

You do not have to vent them or anything as far as to the outside...I haven't ran across a car that can fit a true IB manifold for a pair of 18's behind the back seat that is sealed off from the front wave. Also take note that if your goals are for something to be 'loud' an IB install is not for you. They blend great and sound great..but output is FAR less than another sub in a regular ported or even sealed enclosure. Of course you would have to bump power up as well if you were planning on running a pair...~1 kw would be ample.

Some people buy IB woofers and simply do not know what they truly are and throw them in a box because they are cheap. I just want to make sure you know exactly what they are, they are not as overbuilt as the other woofers and they are more delicate.

Ya, I have explained this a few times to my friend. Its his car im helping with. My wifes car has a pair of boston g5's setup IB style and he prefers how they sound over my two 15s in an enclosure. He only has about 450w right now to work with but we are looking to upgrade. We will setup one and see how it turns out. Thanks for the information.
