fuse on amp

Recommended Posts

when puting the fuses back in my amp i broke the thing that holds the fuse. so right now i am just running a lead (with a fuse in it) from the holder thats not broken to the power 12v on the amp. will this be ok to keep this way. or is it wasy to just heat up the solder and put a new holder in and where can i get one. could i get a in line fuse holder and run from one lead to another and solder them in. i cant run just one amp.. there in a common camber box all 4.

lemme get this right... lets say your amp take 4x40 amp fuses your asking if you can run one 160 amp fuse after the amp input but before the amp guts?

sure.

No, it is not ok to keep it that way. You are bypassing protection for the amplifier. Fix the fuse holder.

i hope this helps

you know how some amps mys a kicker have fuses on the amp. theres two female post the take the fuse well one of the female ends broke off. so my ? is if i use a inline fuse from one point to the other point (points being where the female fuse holders are) so its still fused. or should i get a female fuse holder and un solder the ould post out and solder a new one. that would invole alot dont know where to find them female post that willl fit in the same holes.

so even know theres a fuse between the to points its not protected. i looked at the back of the bored it looks like the lines go from the post still there to no where and the broken one is the one that leads to power i asume. if that makes any diffrents

I think I know what you mean, and to me it sounds like it would be doing to same job its doing now. but is there anyway you could post a pic of the problem, and a pic of your solution so we can see for sure what you mean.

Maybe I just misunderstood what you were trying to say.

If you have a fuse there somehow, it will be ghetto but should work. Replacing the fuse holder would be the best option.
