Double baffle question

I am ready to finish my box this weekend for my BTL but have a few questions first.

When I attach the baffle with the second piece, will the port tuning be changed at all? The top will not be flush after I add the second piece. Ive been looking in the build logs and wherever I can to see if this is what everybody else does. No luck so far. I know its only one side of the port but I want to get it right and not waste wood. Hopefully you guys understand what I am trying to say.

I bought like a 2x2 stick for the bracing as it was cheaper than the closet poles. Can I shave off the corners so there isnt such a big edge or should I just go get closet poles? This wont be my final box as Im waiting for the 4500d and will build another when it gets here. I will be using a BXI2006 for the meantime. This box is just to make sure the sub isnt DOA and to test it out basicallly.

Also do you guys 45 the horizontal corners as well as the vertical corners? This is only the fourth box Ive ever made by myself and Ive also never made a slot port box before. First time for everything.

on my last box, I just cut a sheet of mdf barely larger than the sub, (13.5x13.5 for a 12") and put my sub cutout in that and screwed it to the front on the inside. if your box is almost dont you probably cant do that. also, not quite sure if that is a beefy enough of a solution for a heavy ass sub like a BTL, mine was for a cheap, real light sub. if its glued and screwed though I dont see any problems, especially since its a temp box.

and this peice barely displaces any air inside the box.

The added width will add to your port length, but (assuming you're using 3/4" material) it won't be enough to audibly affect it.

You don't have to do any 45s if you don't want to.

The 2x2 will be fine and you can round the corners if you want to.

Most of the questions you have are done by people to maximize the efficiency of the air excitement. Cutting the angles will decrease resistance and increase efficiency, but unless you are competing, you're not likely to notice.

A single baffle might be louder, but personally I wouldn't run anything less than a double. Hell even my little 8 gets one.

That's just because you have to have more wood than the other guy.

Ok so since I already have cut the second piece I think I will try the single baffle first. Then I can add to it if I feel the need to. Which I probably will.

I will use the sticks I bought for the bracing and shave the edges off. On my next box I think I will just use the dowels. Trying to keep this box relatively cheap and simple.

No 45's for now so I can finish this thing quickly. The next box will have those instead. Im really thinking about trying to compete in the future so the next box might have everything this one wont.

And when you say "wood" I hope you mean mdf!
