HAd an old studio amp about 10 years ago. THis was before I even knew what Zapco was. I sold the amp for like $50, but back then, that was good money to a 16 year old. That, and I picked the amp up for free.

Zapco owners are of a different breed. Once they're hooked, they're hooked. I don't know why, but may soon find out.

Can't comment on the Diamonds, but they get a great rep, and I knwo firsthand they are of a quality build. I have a 6 channel board sitting in my basement.

Design wise, I'd give the edge to Zap as there are som sublties that the "average" user will not understand about in their design. Diamond has really been around long enough to compare to the Zaps as far as durability goes. I'm sure if I still had that Studio, it would be running fine to this day.

As a matter of fact, the 2 Zaps you have listed are the exact same models I'm looking at. Just waiting to hear back from the Zapco rep on the new models. They need a serious update on their site. The new Reference amps are incorporation a lot of new features and design.

zapco period. without trying to make diamond sound like junk, because i'm sure their not, zapco is a breed above most everything else.

i've seen a friend's 4kw's power inputs all but get welded together and the amp never missed a beat. they are some of the strongest, best built amps money can buy.

and like tirefryr stated, a zapco owner is a different breed as well. the amp kinda rubs off on them, and nothing else will do.

my experience with Zapco has been limited but perfect, but I did help on a few installs with Diamond amplfers and they seemed to be very solid

Id say its an even toss-up. Both are great amps, so budget is obviously going to be your main concern here. I personally dont see the advantage to spending more to get the Zapco's when the D7s can be had for about $1000. Obviously I am biased, but I have been very impressed with Diamond Audio's products. I have never heard anything but praise for the D7 series, they are some of the best amps around. From first hand experience, I can tell you that my D7056 is probably the most solidly built amp I have used yet, and I LOVE the way it is designed. Extremely flexible input and ouput options, the crossover adjustments are second to none. I would highly reccomend the D7 series over the Zaps. :fing34:

Even though I have no experience with Zapco, I frankly don't believe the hype that surrounds their products. People truly idolize Zapco amplifiers, lik e they have magical powers. It sickens me. A watt is a watt as they say.

EFFENDI, that is exactly the way I feel. I owned several Zapco amps and will compare them equally to many different amps, PPI ART, RF Punch HD & DSM. Yes these are old school amps but I can not justify spending the extra loot on the Zap. And those damn ring terminals are reason enuff for me to pass. Also my local dealer ask why I was selling my Zap AG's to upgrade and I told him that I was ready for the Ref's. He laughed and told me it was the same boards. After reading through the D7 manuals, they seem to be some of the finest amps ever built. They incorporate technology second to none. Plus the review I read by Zeff himself on the D7's was a deal closer by itself. The crossovers and ss filters adjustability can not be matched. I feel that I made the best choice. My D7506 & D7402 are on the way.

Where did you get the D7402 from? How much? I am probably selling my 4000D and replacing it with one.

ya better do what the "whyteness" says....

i'm already shakin....

but on a serious note, on the flexibility side, the zaps are indeed a bit weak. a hefty price tag, for little options. but u get rock solid performance. and like i stated above, they are damn near impossible to destroy.

but that may not justify the price in a daily driver. but when ur doing burp after burp, and all ur after is power, they are extremely hard to beat.
