Insanely odd port

Recommended Posts

Well, i saw something that made me think of this, so i made it, it is a box design, with 2 ports, that go out of the... front (same side as woorfer) and then come to a port directly above the woofer... its weird. lol

any comments? lol

well, if drawn to scale, the 2 side ports suck for port area.

If it's just a generalization picture, i believe angling the baffle that the sub is mounted on at a 45 degree angle, increasing port area on both side ports substantially and then angling the aerial port at a 45 degree angle would allow for a decent box.

it's almost like an ABC box.. it's just the chamber the sub is in isn't vented immediately out of the box.

OK, how about this design i just did-

crazy.jpg

explain how that would work...

The optional port.. i dont know if it should be there because the front and back wave both eventually use the same last chamber before exiting out the box...

exactly, that's why it fits this thread.

Curious as to how this would work

well, i was hopin somebody with some great box building knowledge would comment on the designs.

My version serves 2 purposes worth addressing.

1 - the effects of the front and rear wave being combined together in the same chamber and...

2 - how many chambers can one make before it starts to lose it's effectiveness?

Asking a question like this and having what you have in your sig make NO SENSE together. Are you fucking serious?

just because i do designs doesnt mean i am the end all know everything about every type of humanly possible design out there.

If that's the case.. well, nvm.

I've never experimented with unknown stylish box designs and just through that out there.

I dont have time to experiment with stuff like that mainly. i was hoping someone with years and years of spl experience like ///M5, hehe, would comment, haha.

Just playin, but honestly was hopin either a long time competitor or box builder would comment on any of these designs and explain how they would work.

I focus on sealed and ported only, and other types of designs i do not fool with as i have no experience with them...

Ported seems pretty doable as it is locally now.

One of my buddies does over a 151 with a single 12 ported in MECA and another friend of mine just did a 150.3 with 2 18s and 1000w playing Michael Jackson Thriller on the mic at the headrest, lol.

We all run ported, keep it simple and loud.

my 2cents ,

it would be useles to connect 3 chambers ported in series as you effectively would dampen 3 frequencies what would mean you are seriously hurting the drivers efficency .

instead of thinking up strange bandpass boxes , i'd suggest you read up on TL's and horns , very efficient not that hard to build and a fun way to fill up your free time building testboxes to see what they do and learning about them .
