Recommended Posts

guess ill start with a link to my old build log, here. (link to part 1 inside the link)

i got my mj18 motor coming in from big pimpin next week. followed by recone and basket from mark. also need to make an order with partsexpress for the carpet and other odds and ends...

so far i got my false floor going in. just need to do the wall for the sub, trim panels around the outside, and carpet.

i hope the ib goes well, im alittle skeptical...

If you ever want to sell that kx250.2 I'm your man! I need one to match my sub amp.

id actually love to replace it, if i like how the ib comes out i want to try to sell it and pick up a 4 channel that does, at least, 150x4, which i would run 2 channels to the sls 8s and bridge the other 2 for 150x1 @ 8 ohms (more power the better). optimally, id like to get like 300 rms @ 8ohm to the mj18 but i wont know if i need that much till its all powered up.

heres my vision... if my brain was a terrible mac paint program.... lol gallery_4186_3_61759.jpg

sub on a baffle at an angle that extends from the top of the rear deck, at the begining of the ski pass, down to the hinge of my amp rack. sub firing into trunk. motor hangs in toward cabin. on the cabin side you see a clam shell looking thing where the floor will meet the baffle at an angle.

carpet will cover everything.

please foward any ideas to secure the wires.

Amp rack looks better. Love the potential in this install. Some people try to kill it with loads of power. One of my favorite installs of mine was with a monstrous 360 watts. But I dig the idea of the MJ 18 IB. I never tried mine IB, but might eventually. Did you plan to go all Kicker originally?

i got bit with the spl bug alittle when i was highschool but never ran more then the 600rms that the kenwood claims to put out. i basically just baught stuff that was the best bang for my buck. i got the kx250.2 just to power a set of component (about 80 bucks shipped), later i decided to go active and picked up the zx100.2 (for 50 bucks shipped, also from ubid.com), i wish i could have matched the kickers... however they are pretty well hidden from view now. ill have matching amps one day!!!

the mj 18 IB is a bit of an experiment for me, im not sure what to expect from it to be honest. the problem im facing right now is getting a good seal between the trunk and cabin. if i cant get it perfect ill glass an enclosure by the right rear tire well and vent out through the fender... (i think this would be pretty fun but i'll have to wait till its warm again)

im hoping next paycheck i can get the basket and recone, then have it installed in 4 weeks (max). right now im pretty busy with school, and i make 4 hour drives to pittsburgh to see the gf one or 2 weekends a month... (which means i cant work those weekends... so i dont make money... so i cant work on my car.... its a never ending cycle)

Well at least you have a plan and plenty of time to make decisions final. Glad you got the amp rack together and wires are looking much better tied down.

thanks, i really hope so, it should look pretty cool atleast. non of my friends have ever seen an 18" sub so they should be pretty surprised.

right now i got the sls's playing down to 30 hz, pretty impressive for 8s haha... but i need just alittle more down low to be content.

it really doesn't make much sense for me be spending all this on a sub to play from 30-50hz but thats why i love this hobby. it doesn't have to make sense!

nice amp rack and carpeting skills. They look similar to mine. :D I want to see this through as well. I got an MJ-18M in the home theater right now and it sounds amazing for $175.
