electrical upgrade or not?

Recommended Posts

I,m looking at the saz 1500 or 2000 . but my cousin say s i would need electrical up grades with the 2000 and not the 1500. on another forum i read even the 1500 needs electrical upgrades. is this true and if so would it be major? Also i want to run one deep and loud 15 ported , I like hdc3 but aluminum coils need too much power. any other suggestions?

I do not know the alternator size on durangos but I am sure they have a decent sized one. I think you should be fine with upgrading the big 3. See how that goes. If you notice voltage drops let us know the beginning value before the drop and then the lowest voltage drop and how frequently it occurs. I ran a bxi2006 and a gto1004 in my car on stock electrical no problem. My voltage did not drop below 12.5 which is where the battery sits at.

Big 3 should do it, and add a battery if you see a voltage drop. I personally like to have a bat close to the amp if needed or not. Amps do not like low voltage. My Fosgates are 5/6 years old and are still as good as the day I bought them.

just as you would an amp + to + then - to - then run the same wire size to the amp. pretty simple

it wont, but after LONG abuse it may. but there is someone around here running 6,000 watts on a stock alt.
