Is 3,000RMS on a Fully loaded(daily driver) Sub possible

Recommended Posts

Im gonna get 2 12in BTLs and I was wondering if they could handle 3,000RMS or higher and not have to worry about it, and the sub would be a daily sub but fully loaded otherwise.

I dont know about daily but if you set your gains right and watch your volume then 3000wrms may be ok but I dont know about higher. The question is for how long can they take that power and can your vehicle handle 6000rms or more? Why dont you just give them between 2000-3000wrms(if you just want to throw that much power on them but they have a rms rating for a reason).

Oh yeah welcome and glad you could join us.

Alright so I should really just stick to 2k-2.5k then? And the primary reason I'm asking is cuz I'm having a hard time finding an amplifier.. Also I'm DEFINITELY a noob, but I do know some stuff, but what do you mean about the gain? You never know if you never ask right.

Yeah I agree with you close mouths dont get fed, but a good 2000wrms-3000wrms amp would be perfect for those subs since a 2500-3000wrms amp will leave you with some head room which is a good thing. When I say setting the gain right I mean their is a way to limit even a 3000wrms amp to dish out a certain amount of rms, you would have to get a DMM: Digital Multi-Meter, bought mines last nite at Wal-mart for $30 but they have cheaper ones that cost only $20 but well worth it. Once you get a DMM you will need a test tone cd and a voltage chart unless you wanna do all the math by hand or paper to set your gains to where your 3000wrms is only dishing out 2000wrms. Look under the Audio Related Section Amplifiers, Headunits, Electrical Forum and their are a few tutorials that describe how to go about this process if more information is needed.

Amps for a BTL: Sundown SAZ-2000D, AudioQue 2200D, Rockford Fosgate T2000or T2500, Incriminator Audio 20.1 (just off the top of my head)

Amps for 2 BTL's: Sundown SAZ-3500D or SAZ-4500D, Audioque 3500D, Rockford Fostgate T4000, Incrimantor Audio 40.1 (just off the top of my head)

Sweet, thanks a lot for the help

Well damn, got another noob question too.. Ok I KNOW I'm gonna get a battery per amp, and I know Ill need an alternator but I dont know what size(amperage wise) I should get. I heard that I should get a battery with a rating of around the RMS each amp is pushing, but Im not sure on that. And I think a 250A H/O alt. would be good. Or am I wrong in assuming that?

250A minimum for 6,000w of power.

You will need a minimum of 2 D3100s, maybe a little more if you have slight dimming.

Well I guess Im only going to be right around 5k watts ,2k-2.5k per sub, but you still recommend that right? I was going to get 2 kinetic batts the HC-2400..

also is there a site I can find more choices of alternators? I've looked everywhere but I can't find a site with anything over 250A and I really wanna stay away from two alts if possible.

Well get the 250A if thats all you can find and grab two XS Power D3100's, the kinetick 2400 dont have the amp hours you need. On the electrical behalf listen to what shizzzon recommends, its gonna cost you but if you do it right the first time the less money you have to spend in the long run.

i run around 8,000w with a 250A, you will be fine.

300A alts are usually made only for SUVs as they are bigger and the companies that make the 250s would have the 300s as well if they made em for your vehicle.

Mechman or DCPowerinc will have what you need.

2 HC2400s will be fine for your 5kw install.

Right, I know you need the money to supply the power these beasts need, which I can do, I'm just looking for the least expensive but alright thanks guys. The info really helped, and now I'll be able to build my stuff so its insane loud.. just wish I knew as much as you guys lol

lol, you don't recommend the 2400s but you tell him to listen to what i say and i say it's fine... He is really gonna be confused now, lol.

2 HC2400s are fine.

If you are a Kinetik fan, that model number is what you want, 2 of them.

If you are Powermaster fan, go with 2 XS D3100s...

The Powermaster's are generally $30 more than the Kinetik's and i am biased to say that's what i'd use simply because their companies support forum is on this site if you have any questions.

Honestly I didnt even look up the AH on the HC2400 and was cofusing it with the HC2000, I gave some false info my fault and figured since you only listed the XS Power D3100's they were the only ones acceptable (but I guess it was what came to mind first or brand loyalty).

But yeah (2) Kinetick HC2400 will do, my fault for not looking the batteries up first.

ok so this is my plan, 2 Fi BTL 12" subs [Ohm: Dual 2, P Chamfer: no(it comes with cooling package), Cooling:Yes, HiXmCoil: yes, Daily or SPL: Daily, I Heat Ring: Yes Universal: no] with a 2.75~3cu ft ported box, tuned to around 35-38hz, depending on how I build the box, 2 Powermaster D3100s, a 220A HO alt(couldnt find the 250A I seen earlier  ), 2 Audioque 2200D which will have a 1 ohm load at 14.4V so 2200RMS, and tons of 0 gauge wire lol.. plus a new head unit, might as well.. Does that sound like a good setup? Any changes?

Also would anyone recommend an EQ, I know someone who can tune it for me if I need but Im just asking for now.

If you really want a line driver eq use the Audio Control 4.1 ,i have it in my vehicle and it makes a world of difference,, also for an amp i am using the RF t40001bd amp for 2 btl's ,and the amp does its job.......As far as the alternator i have a300 amp alt from Excessive Amperage with no problems,,, Have owned it for almost a year now and still running ... clap.gif
