What are you looking for? SQ or SPL. In other words... you want to sound good or do you want to get loud? I mean obviously everyone WANTS both, but lets say if you had to choose... pick one.

If you're talking about, say, components I've heard nothing but crazy good things about the Image Dynamic CTX's and the Alpine Type X Ref's.

Not coincidentally, those are the two sets I'm trying to decide between.

Ok. I have effectively been embarrassed. I listen to a lot of rap so I am looking for louder component speakers. i have a $300 budget for speakers.

I would say listen to a few sets and go from there.

I have been through few sets of comps recently and have realized that I just do not like metal dome tweeters no matter how much they cost. The metal dome tweeters I have owned all sound harsh as hell when you turn them up and ruin it for me.

I believe my next set to try will be some Image Dynamics or possibly going active.
