I keep hearing over and over to spend the money on speakers and processing. I am debating on buying a zapco ref. 360.4 and a 1100.1. This will set me back like 1400 bucks for new stuff from an authorized dealer. I am highly considering scratching the zapco amps and going with Crossfire. Either a vr404 or 2 - vr402's for the active front stage and a vr1000d for subs. I know Crossfire has a stellar reputation for SPL amps and that. Anyone have some good SQ competition with any of their class AB amps? The processing will not be an issue as I will be using an Audiocontrol MVC, 6XS, and 2 - EQT's. Thanks for any and all opinions or comments.

Is that directed to me? I am aware of the difference in the quality of the amps. Zapco is at the top of the list. That is the entire reasoning behind the post, to see if anyone has some solid experiences with the Crossfire AB line. All I will be using the amp for is pumping wattage into the front stage. Thanks for your kind reply though.

dezyrme, welcome to the site :woot:

but I personally like Crossfire amplifers, they are quality built nothing super fancy get the job done well amplfiers, unless you feel you really need the advantage of super high dampening factors and the symbilink of the Zapco's, run the crossfires, heck kicker SX amps would be great, same with the new Powerbass, both less expensive than Zapco, I personally have had great experience with Orion, they are very powerful and built extremely solid,

you could run a 4004 and 8002 instead of the zapco and still be all A/B class amplifers

You might want to look at Diamond Audio or Arc Audio's stuff, they are more SQ focused and make excellent high end gear.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. My next consideration in line is Arc. Then a tie of many different companies (Crossfire, Orion, Etc.) I really HATE the connections on the Zap Ref. amps. How am I going to get a 1/0 cable to that amp. I wish I could find some nice full range amps. I feel that I'm going to be paying a bit extra for some extra processing that I have no need for with all the Audiocontrol gear I'm bringing into the install. I'm in the process of selling ALL of my audio equipment in order to make this amp purchase. I want these amps to last me for a while and not allow me to get the urge to sell them and upgrade. Thanks again for the welcome and the input.

Diamod amps have great imputs, no stupid spade connectors( i hate them with a passion), just jam that wire in and screw er down.

What Diamond amps are worth looking into. I see them on a couple of websites as new but on the Diamond site, they are DC's.
