Box Design Help!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I got my 12' Pioneer subs a few weeks ago and I put them into an old box that I made for my other system a while back. After a few days of listening to music on my current setup, I noticed that my woofers were not hitting the lows AT ALL and I am a big fan of C&S Music so this was really disappointing for me. I ran all the parameters if the sub in bass box 6 and my recommended tuning frequency is like 21 Hz. Am I doing something wrong here? Also, Could anyone really help me out and just give me a quick rough draft of a suitable box design for this application. The specs on the sub are here http://www.pioneerusa.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/TS-W3002D2_InstructionManual1120.pdf. I would be running about 1500 rms to each sub.

That is a really low tuning freq. Also, linky is not right.

i am not a box guru, but the guys that are .......they are not going to even post a response to this thread without alot more info.... vehicle type, space useable (like overall dimensions), a link that works for specs on subs, number of subs ( one could assume two, but that whole assume thing..) well you know. the 21 hz is pretty dang low.......perhaps too low for what you need.

i would suggest loading this post with info ( the guru's love that stuff) and then see what they come up with for you.

good luck ,chop.

Alright man thanks for the help. My vehicle is a 1997 seville sedan. The max dimensions of the trunk would be 18' tall by 41' wide by 33' long. I would be running 2 of these subs. http://www.pioneerusa.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/TS-W3002D2_InstructionManual1120.pdf is the link that works.

40 hz is way too high for anything resembling lows. If you want to stick with ported, try 30 hz tune.

I would try tuning somewhere around 30-35hz.
