i have the main power run to the batt up from to the one in back then the batt ground to the chassie then the amp gets power and ground from the batt in the back and when it snaps its only for a sec and it comes right back on

Well first have you checked all the wires to make sure they are connect securely?

Punctuation is your friend.

I couldn't understand a word except the fact that your protect light comes on then goes off.

You won't get any help if people can't understand what you are typing.

i had this installed for a few weeks cheapo sony headunit,1 extra battery, stock alt,sae1200 playing at 2ohm ,1 15btl. just yesterday it started to do that snap sounds like a m80 in the truck and you can see the arc in side the amp. when it snaps its only for a sec then comes back on. all my connections are tight and secure, it only does it mostly when i change the song mp3 cd at high levels and randomly. the protection light bilnks when it plays but does not turn off the amp. i dont know if this would do anything but installed a volt meter from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&s2=0&c=2#ht_1752wt_961 i got the meter ground with the headunit same with the acc power. the signal comes off the main power run the ground for the signal wire is with the headunit ground. but i unhooked the signal from the power it still snaps i don.t think that has somthing to do with it

Check the remote voltage.

Also, double check the sub wiring to see if it's not wired by accident at 0.5 ohms.

I think you shouldn't need to try a diferent head unit but try one just in case.

A board trace may be hitting the case -- you should send it to dB-R to check it out.

I just stumbled across this thread and I have never done business with sundownz OR DB-R but since I can read my guess would be what Jacob as well as another member here suggested... Send back to DB-R FTW. If it were me, I'd go to their website http://www.db-r.com/sell/store/. Then I'd look to the lower left hand portion of the site under "information" and click "contact us". Then I would proceed to describe what happened and ask what I need to do to send the amp in for repair or replacement....... but that's just me.
