Need help quick with voltmeter

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a memphis digital display voltage meter and I'm not too sure how I should hook this up..

I'm thinking the positive 12v wire should be ran from the battery to the gauge and the negative to a ground somewhere?

And can I just use speaker wire?

I'll post a pic while I'm waiting for a response from you guys.

Those posts on the bottom are positive and negative, they are also removable..

I was hoping to take those posts off so i could fit the meter in a little nook in my dashboard.

yea, power and ground.

You need the power hooked up to a relay though, not straight to battery.

I would say hook it up to remote turn on on the stereo but u will probably need a relay put on that because i can't guess how much current it will require to power that thing.

It looks to be that simple. I am planning on getting one of those. I probably would use 18 ga personally.

Thanks for the help, we are just going to use a inline switch i think to turn it on and off.

We got it hooked up and mounted on my dash though it looks really sweeeeeeet.

:D

Lowest I dipped was to 12.8 while idling playing get low by lil john at full tilt for 30 seconds.

While driving I shouldn't have a problem right?
