Mags and SPL

Recommended Posts

How much could these handle for burps, and are they comparable to an SX for SPL?

I have been offered a trade on my SXs for his Claw basket Mags. 2 12" for 2 12"

Also I am burping with 6000w+

Mags do have some major SPL but they are more of an LSQ driver. As far as burps with that amount of power, I can't comment. However I deliver 1400 daily to mine and shows no sign of fatigue.

extreme 1-2???

got a link to something that explains the different classes. I have not been to a comp in a couple of years. I did however take 2nd in 601+ Pro one time with my first attempt.(LSQ).

but I have not had my new car comp ready yet. This lady totaled my old maxima which had a completely custom built trunk with plexi amp rack and three 12w3s. it was kick ass, along with MB Quarts Qs up front and refs in the back.

Results from the previous drivers can be found on our home page at www.stereointegrity.com

No comments can be made with the new drivers as they are not publicly available yet.

If the RE's could handle it, the Claws will. HAve you plotted impedance rise on your enclosure?

I have heard that the SXs get nasty loud though and the Magnums were never designed to be SPL oriented drivers.

I am talking about a different assocation than you are, I am reffering to dbDrag, head over to http://www.termpro.com and got to dbDrag and there is a class Matrix that explains everything, I would kill to run a Street C or B with the MAGs after testing the demo out

thanks I will check it out. It has been a while since I have been to a comp. I need to head over to one just to see what mine is doing now.

i'm not trying to start anything, especially since i haven't played with any mag yet, let alone the new one, but whilest there isn't a doubt you'll be competitive in your area...u'll likely get stomped in either of those classes running anything round...though with the 'plorer, u have the right vehicle.

just a bit of a heads up...remember, i'm friends with the current street a world champ (now in street B) and a former street c world champ (who placed fourth last year with a blown sub, and didn't realize it. and now he's in an explorer). so it's not like i'm talking outa my ass or anything.

oh and the street b guy has already done a 159+ in testing on the tl with his usaci setup and is creeping up on a 157 with his dbdrag setup..he did a 154 just playing around with one amp with his dbdrag stuff and the box was falling apart..literally

just a h/u aarron..that's all..

man, i just rambled on and almost hijacked this thing...

SORRY! :banhim::Doh:

Well, when Dustin (rangerman) had the claw baskets in his ranger...he used a PH-d2 on each one for competitions. Also, Nick used to talk about he plugged one into a wall socket right out of the box and it didn't phase the sub at all...

NG

EDIT: PS...they're AMAZING subs...tough choice...but for SPL I'd probably take the SX's...

Just ask Greer, Lloyd, Nick M., Josh Gull, or anyone else that was at the meet when I plugged it into a wall. We actually hit it about 5 times, and it was a fresh driver too - no break-in period. :) The drivers can handle their own, but if you don't listen to music / care about the fidelity to a great degree then there are drivers out there that can be louder than the new Mag's. I haven't heard the SX's so I can't comment about their SQ.

:lol2:

not spam :fing34: but i'm a realist. while i'm not doubting these new mags at all, i'm really not, i just know who hte competition is and what they are using. i also know that they are some of the loudest ppl going in strret classes...

and they only use one round sub, when they use one, and it's dd.

nothing against SI, nothing at all, i'm just stating facts and that these two guys know their chit.

i know this much, they weren't at all impressed with the xxx, though the mt intrigues them...

of course, when the mag gets here, they will get to hear it and see it..

maybe it'll impress them enough to get ahold of nick,eh??

With the proto 15 being about 50% of its potential, I doubt it'll turn heads in the SPL area. The bad pole/backplate is doing serious damage to the drivers performance. :(

The proto will not but I am sure the production drivers will turn some heads. I was impressed with it even though I know it has more in it than the proto will do.

when i show it off to james, i'll make sure i mention that..

i mean hell, think about it...if it's impressive with chrome where it doesn't belong..what's it going to be like when it is 100%?

anyway, i look forward to testing it...and like mentioned elsewhere, maybe i'll get lucky enough to get my hands on a production 12 to run head to head with the rl-p..

Kent no stress, I know what you are saying, and I would not be building to win finals, this is DBdrag we are talking about and I don't have the monitary backing to win all out for dbDrag, but if I would try to build I would try to build to be in the pack or competitve, the MAGs would be fun to compete with and still be able to listen to them on the drive home, there is too many top end Street guys in this area to me to even think about going to finals anytime soon, just build for fun and snag a trophy or nine for fun and learn more

if you are saying that competing in any way or form is not fun and it is only fun if you pull off the big numbers/records than too bad.

I use to take my previous car and setup to comps and enter in various classes. I never won out right, nor did I post huge numbers. but I had a freakin blast every time I went out and just hangin around checkin out others' setups and putting my through the ringer.

so yeah, I will keep that attitude and you will soon see me at a comp with my Mag and a smile no matter what the score.

and oh yeah, you don't want to talk SQ, I am in the process of building a sq machine. Of course that is what I love more.

no, i'm not trying to infer that...however, i'm super competitive, in everything. i too just enjoy going and seeing what numbers are brought down..but when it's my turn, when i pull into the lane, then the fun stops for just a bit and the competitior comes roaring out.

afterwards, well, i'm just there for the hell of it. i'm either mad at my score or happy with it, but i know i had fun trying.

and sq, well, it's such a flash show. i mean, as long as u can throw up a good spl number and ur install is super flashy, u can actually score enough points to beat a ride that is basic but actually sounds better. and i don't see the word "show" in sound quality..but that's just me. good luck in ur endeavor, i hope u do well.

everyone can call them what you want SQ LSQ SPL aall i know is that i have had real results with them in SPL i am running a MA5082HX on a pair of 15s adn i wouldnt be a bit afread to put 4000 or more to each VC for burps i was in a deathmatch (small little local thing ) they had a new TL i played soem jay-z for 2 min straight as loud as my car would get it and i carried a 144.3 adn thats with takeing DB for breaks in bass and voltage drops so on so forth.

moral of the story they can and will take whatever you can dish out

ask nick about my track record with audio equiptment ( i can tear up an anvil with a sponge lol) and same subs ive had for about a year just hit a 155.3 on a new TL on the windsheild.
