port area 4 15" ns

Recommended Posts

will b building a new box soon, & tryin to figure out how much port area you'll recommend 4 a 15" ns in a 3.5 cube box?

I have it n a 4.8 cube box now, & it sounds good. using 3 4" aeros @ 32 hz.

not sure if I want to use the aeros or a slot 4 the new built, would like to use the 3 4"s but ill b to long 4 my box. so I'm thinkin maybe only usin 2 4". what u think?

i used a slot port and i can't believe how loud my 15inc NS sounds! and i put mine in a 3.0cubic box after displacement with a double front baffle!! if i were you i would use 2 6inch aero's or just go to a slot port!! for slot ports you can use that RE-Calc it works pretty good and is pretty accurate!

thanks, but I know how to design my boxes, & 2 6"s will be way to long to fit n my box.

I'm just tryin to figure out how much port area would b optimal for a 15" n a 3.5 cube box (aero & slot)

go by the rules (12-16in^2 per cubic foot of enclosure):

3.5 x 12 = 42in^2

3.5 x 14 = 49in^2

3.5 x 16 = 56in^2

Port Area Range = 42-56in^2 or port area

yea I know the rules, tryin to see if jake recommends closer to 12 or 16 & above for optimal (loud & deep).

it sounds great n the box its n now, its just way to big. I want it to sound the same (or better) in a smaller box

Go with 56in^2. You can always shorten the port if you don't like the sound.

Best way to find out is to test different port lengths.
