4ga is fine for 1200w but you can just trim the 2 down to get it to fit, or you could get a reducer

the reducer is a lot cleaner but if you dont want to spend the $ then its really no big deal

last question can i use 1 foot for 0/1 gauge from the battery to the fuse. then go all the way 2 gauge?

I used pruners to cut my 1/0 gauge, worked like a charm!

I would go all the way with the 1/0, using 1 foot of it will be really pointless.

i have only 13 feet of 0/1 and 15 of 2 gauge and i need 16 17 for the battery to amp

so will just use 1 foot of 0/1 and then go the 15 with teh 2 gauge.
