Trying to beef up my electrical

Recommended Posts

Alright guys I know this kind of question has been asked before but I just wanted to make sure what will be right for me. I already tried searching for a long time but haven't really found my answer.

So I just bought a SAZ-2000D from Mark :) for my subs and I already have a JBL 4 channel amp for my mids and highs. So what I am trying to figure out is if I should upgrade my alt or just get a second battery. I already have a yellow top upfront and I have the factory 145 amp alt. My system would be around 2500 watts but judging by how the SAZ-2000D did on Jacob's clamp test I'm guessing my system will be close to 3000 watts. I have about 400 dollars left to spend on electrical upgrades and 1/0 wire and the fuses and all that for the 2000D. I was first thinking about getting a Deka 9A31 for the rear and running that for a little bit until I got an MLA module. But now I'm thinking of buying a high output alt and running my system with the yellow top for a little while until I could buy a 9A31. What do you guys suggest I do? Sorry for the long post!

rigth now i am running one sax100.4 and a saz2000 and my alt is stock (around 105-115) and i have a stock battery upfront and i have 2 batcap 2000's in the trunk! at full tilt i am seeing a 14.4volt to 12.5volt drop (at idle whihc is about 750rpm)! which isn't to bad for me! I also have the big 3 done!

So if i were you i would just spend the money on a good battery and not worry about your alt! but i know ppl would recommend doing something else!

but that is just my 2cents!

I think I may just get the Deka and keep my stock alt then go from there. CrazyKenKid how long can you keep your system playing full tilt with that low voltage drop? I heard that without a high output alt you have to drive a while without the system playing to charge the batteries. I don't know I'll see I guess.
