box for 2 15" fi btl fully loaded

Recommended Posts

I am going to be building a box for my 2 15" btl fully loaded, I am curious wat of the two would be the best and how big should i cut/make the port, Also let me know if I mite need to make the box a lil bigger. ( i am also using 3/4 inch mdf) And should I have a baffle in between the subs or would one large box be best?

Box 1

height 19"

width 39.5"

depth 23"

Box 2

height 16"

width 39"

depth 35"

Any help would be appreciated.

Personally both boxes follow within their guidelines but I would go with Box 2 since it is bigger and the port size depends on what frequency that you want it tuned (between 30-35Hz.

If i wanted 32 hertz what would be the best size for the port and should i build it as two seperate boxes or one large box(no baffle)

either build one big box and give each sub its own chamber or two different boxes, thats all personal preference. I have my subs all in the same chamber with no problem at all. the port should be 12-16 square inches of area per cubic foot of volume.

www.reboxcalc.com <--- Use That For A Rough Estimate, That Calculator Can Come Up With Strange Shit Sometimes, Though.

Edit: With That Much Power, A Smaller Medium Sized Box Would Probably Be Optimal.

Ok thanks for everyones help.. So due you think like 4 cubic foot would be about optimal for 1 15" btl since I have alot of power.. and also wen you say 12-16 square inches of port per cubic foot how due i measure the ports cubic inch (sorry for the noobie question)

4 ft will work great. You need 55-60 sqin of port area. So H x W of the port = 55-60 sqin.

Figure out the port size, and then use a calculator to determine the length for the tuning you want.

Once you know the port H x W x L, you can determine the port displacement (how much volume it takes up in the box).

The Net volume (4 ft) + port displacement + driver displacement = the gross volume of the box.

The INTERNAL dimensions of the box should be sized according to the gross volume of the box.
