Sniper reporting in.

I've been into audio for quite a long time, I've always loved bass, until about 2 years ago I didnt know there were competitions, I thought I knew it all.

but boy, I couldnt have been more wrong.

I've learned so much in these past 2 years its unreal, I've been very fascinated with horn loaded boxes, I sketch em out on paper all the time.

anyway, system wise what i've had :

I started out with a Lightning Audio P4.10.4, it was an alright woofer, nothing like "ZOMG I HAD TO BE HITTING ATLEAST 4000 DEEBEEZ" or stupid shit like that, it was good for music extension, not like I was trying to set off car alarms or something.

after that, I migrated to the Lightning Audio P4.12.4, I kinda killed the 10, what I thought had been a crappy sub wasnt actually as bad as I thought it was, I (just as most people) got a bad egg.

well, I rocked the LA sub until I could finally afford something worth keeping, and I had 2 MTX 6000 10's, good drivers, although they were nearly 8 years old they were still stiff and sounded brand new.

Then, I lost em in a bad deal.

Well, after the loss of some great daily drivers I moved on to some oldschool Audiobahn subs, before they were all "audio-bling" (We're talking back to the days of stamped black baskets that they attempted to make look like Cast baskets)

They were good, 20hz sounded great with em, They arent as bad as everyone says they are, ya know? Sure they're cheap pieces of junk, but they arent half bad.

Then after I finally decided to catch up with the real world, I bought my first 18, now, most people start off with something nice, well... i'd like to think that is the same for my old 18.

I bought a Dayton Audio DCS450 18, very very nice subwoofer, was much louder than my 'bahns or MTXs. Although it could take only 300 rms, I was pumping 700 to it no problem (the trick is to keep the power clean and the driver from going out of its mechanical limits, essentally, you have to limit its capabilities of excursion to keep it from smacking the pole piece, a little bit of epoxy sealent on the spider-to-cone spot does that nicely).

Was a great driver, think I was probably doing 30s with it. was much louder than some cars I had heard with like 2 15s. (where im at people rock FUSION. not much competition out here)

anyways, what im trying to say is i've always rocked the subs, and will always keep forward doing it, I wanna eventially be able to fiberglass my own boxes, so in order for me to move forward, im gonna need help doing it, so I hope ya'll on SSA can help me keep movin' forward.

hope this forum will be as helpful as im hopin' it'll be - Alex
