What should I get!

I'm wondering if anyone know if I have to upgrade anything if i just want to put a 12" FiQ in my trunk. I want to conserve trunk space so I'm not looking for a full out system just something for quality. Is this the right sub or should I get something else? Any suggestion on head units I been looking at pioneers and soud storm. Suggestion will be nice and ill look into them. I'm going to make a box and should be at about 1.8 Will post pictures when all done. Might not be up until later this year since im going on vacation :]. Switching from JBL to FI btw.

Fi Q should do you wonders in the right enclosure. what do you plan on tuning to? or are you running it sealed?

for head units i, personally, wouldnt use anything other than alpine or pioneer. the specific deck though depends on what features you would be looking for.

also what amp do you plan on using for the Q?

I was looking at the alpine pdx1 with 1000 watts and the Hifonics 1608d with 1600 watts. Ported box tune to 32 34hz possibly? I'm not quite sure on that yet. But head unit I been looking at pioneer that has 4v preamps double din. 7 channel eq kinda want more but well. I'm not looking for anything fancy just a good double din with ipod capability. If you can point me to a cheaper one than the AVH-P3100DVD then I'll check it out. I'm having a guy build the box for me for 100$ he works with FI customer before so I trust him. Would this sounds better sealed?

I am troubled by your definition of "quality" and "sound better"

By asking whether to use a 1000w+ amp, but only wanting "quality" I am not so sure your definition matches what others here would expect it to be. In particular when you then ask about a crap-onics amp.

What are your goals? You say you don't want a "full out system" so I am unsure. It would also help to know what you propose to do to the fronts as well.

Sorry qaulity was the wrong word, clarity was what I meant. If those amps wouldn't be good then make suggestion to what i should be looking to getting instead of criticizing without a better solution to what I had. Full out system I'm not looking to compete or blow any other system out of the water just daily driving and meet my reggae, hip-hop, alt rock, needs.

You gave us nothing to go on to give you recommendations and I never knocked the PDX, it would be fine for a sub. What I knocked was the fact that you are describing wanting quality/clarity and then wanting to throw a ton of power on something and still haven't talked about the rest of the system. To me this means your only goal is loud and in that case a very different set of equipment would be what I'd choose.

So far I have a TR690-TXi in my door panels with a 300/4 amp hooked to it I got it for 150 from a friend. My rear speaker I haven't touch them yet but probably put something in there like the VR600-CSi I know its a lot of JLs. I still have my 500/1 will that work alright with this woofer? or should i just sell the thing and get the or something similar to it PDX? I don't turn my systems all the way up since my wife always complains just enough to annoy her. So im not looking to abuse the sub for max tuning. Sorry, if i wasn't so clear in my last 3 2 too much posting I guess I wanted suggestions and if anyone was familiar with the two amps I was looking at. If you want to know anything else just ask, I've read some real good things about this sub and want to try it out for myself. Never heard nor seen an FI in person wonder am I missing out on all this talk.

The 500/1 is more than enough if you are true to your goals. You also don't need any rear speakers as they will actually counter act the clarity goal, instead take the same budget and spend it on improving the current install: baffles, deadening, etc..

Thanks I was told by my friends to skip the rear but he never said why. I was looking into baffle for my 6x9s and deadening I can get a deal here for 219.99 with window tint. I know I can deaden myself for mad cheap I needed my windows tinted anyways. Its off topic but that's a nice m5, making me miss my 87 633.
