Big 3 > 2nd battery. Prioritize. What use is a battery if you can't charge it???

what amp did you get? If it is really putting out 2400 watts then you need to do the BIG 3 with 1/0 wires and a 2nd battery. But I would the BIG 3 first. There is no way that a 2nd battery is cheaper (quality type of battery) than some 1/0 wires.

also you can charge batteries from a wall socket.....my boat has a trolling motor and it uses some what of a car battery and all we have to do is charge it after use....btw batteries arent really to much i could found a good 1 for like 60 bucks...................

doing the big 3 is about 50 dollars or even less. 2400 watts is going to need a good Ah rated battery. Also if you're going to put it in the trunk then it should be safe so get AGM batteries. Wires are wires used or not. I did my big 3 for about 35 dollars worth of wires.

edit- I hope you were kidding about 400 dollars for the big 3. and 60 dollars for a battery to power 2400 watts is going to be the best deal in the world. maybe you should tell us all what battery that is. i spent 150 on my battery used.

I always do the big 2 instead of the Big 3...

I just run larger power wire from alt to batt and add as many 1/0 or whatever the largest size wire u can get to fit for the ground running off the starting battery as possible.

In my car, i upgraded my alt so it was mandatory but this is how i have mine-

2/0 from alt to starting battery.

2 2/0s from ground (starting battery) to car frame.

3/0 from starting battery to rear battery bank(u dont have one of these at the moment but in case u do, keep following me)

All power wire running off of batts to amps are also 2/0.

I have the rear battery bank grounded with 5 2/0 cables.

You see, as many grounds as u can get, the better\safer.

How much would it cost to do the big 2?

First question u must ask yourself is, do you have a vice?

If u do not have a vice, then it will be near impossible to properly crimp those $0.99 1/0 ring terminals. Instead, you would have to opt to get the allen wrench kind which are about $8 per terminal! ouch.

So, crimping terminals and wire-

You would need ~ 4 terminals, 2 for alt, 2 for grounding starting battery. Crimp- $4, allen wrench- $32

Wire - ~ $33

If u buy it all from Knukonceptz after shipping- under $50 if getting crimped, around $75 if getting the other kind.

then it's not really a good battery. if you wanna run lots of power, then you gotta be able to back it up. if you cant afford it or dont want to...then you need to downscale

if you think you will find a GOOD battery for 60 bucks and you think the big 3 costs 400 bucks you have no idea what you are doing...

and give me shit about it, i dont care. to me it honestly sounds like your clueless.

Sounds Like To Me You Don't Even Deserve That Damn BL. You Don't Have A Damn Clue What You're Doing, And That's The Truth.

Have Fun Stopping Every 3 Minutes And Recharging Your Auxillary Battery For 2 Hours, Then. And There Is No "Good" Battery For These Kind Of Applications For $60, My Damn Motorcycle And Four Wheeler Batteries Cost More Than That.

I think we need to tone down on the bashing. I was just trying to help. What amp did you get, OP?

Well we all learned it from somewhere our first times so:

Upgrade to a H/O alt..will run about $200+(need more details on power req.)

Add to the stock wires under the hood with at least 0ga or bigger:

alt to + on battery

ground bolt on alt. to frame/chassis

- of battery to frame/chassis

- of battery to sheet metal

+ on battery fused link (no more than 18" from battery)

Add to stock wires with at least 4ga. or bigger:

- of battery to engine block ground

+ of battery to starter (if you want, not really req.)

+ of battery to the main fuse housing of auto (big case under hood that has many fuses for vitals)

On secondary battery:

+ from the front battery with fused link,

should be hooked up to the + on the secondary battery (0ga. or bigger)

- on secondary battery should be grounded to frame/chassis

This will wire the two batteries in parallel thus keeping the 12v requirements.

Total wire, terminals, and fuses: 100-200 depending on tastes

Secondary battery: when choosing one, remember that you're going for reserve capacity.

This will judge how well and how long the battery will discharge for over a

given time and load.

Choose wisely when deciding!

AGM or Deep Cycle (wet cell)? Depends on the application and tastes.....

Usually will run you 100-500 depending on what you need.

This is how I did mine and I always have when installing,

I hope this helps you understand what you're in for....
