Electrical Questions

Recommended Posts

Ok it's time to start thinking about my crappy alternator and electrical. I'll start out by asking if anybody in here has a 2003 Nissan Maxima and if they have a HO alt. or one with upgraded electrical stuff? I've found a couple for reasonable prices but the sites are somewhat iffy. I was hoping to get away with just doing the big 3, adding a battery, replacing the battery under the hood, and buying a capacitor. The alt. I have now puts out 100-125 amps from what I've seen and I also believe it's the original one that's in my car. What do you guys think? Should I definately upgrade the alternator? Or go with my other choices and try to avoid the alty. part? I also forgot to mention that I will be running a total of around 2400 watts once it's al settled and done. It kinda seems to me that the HO alt. would be the safest in the long run due to having my original alt. thats gone through 95,000 miles. But I was also thinking about replacing the alt. with another regular output one and then going with all of the other upgrades. Which would be overall cheaper? A cap. could be avoided witgh a HO alt. Just let me know what how you guys feel.

Heres probably the best deal I've come across for a 190 amp alt --> http://www.maniacelectricmotors.com/hiampalrefor.html

Please also suggest any alternator company's that make them for Nissans.

But advice please :). Sorry for rambling, I tried to get right to the point leaving nothing left out. Thanks again!!

Next time i see him I'll ask for you.

Hmm never thought to check them. I like how it says UP TO 200 amps at ???rpm also no rating at idle

For 147.99 not to shabby if it does what its rated and wont die in a month or 2
