well i guess ill get this started tonight before hitting the hay..

car- 00 Oldsmobile intrigue

plan- install new front stage, finish up amp rack, paint sub box, use some more deadening and other products (expanding foam) to kill remaining rattles.

equipment- 3" peerless fullrange, 8" peerless sls, AA arsenal 12" (2.2 cubes @ 30hz), kicker 100.2, kicker 250.2, kenwood excelon x10d, clarion DXZ785USB

currently i have pg rsd comps running active, doors are deadened with raammat. the trunk also has a layer of raammat w/ some dynamat extreme back there too. amp rack is mounted upside down under rear deck.

well i got alittle done, was only out there about 2 hours..

i did the battery ground to chassis. i also tried to kill this nasty little rattle in my driver side door.... i know its gona be even worse as soon as i get the sls in there... but i was hoping to get it taken care of before then...

afew pictures will be posted shortly... sorry about the quality. ill get a real camera out when there's something worth taking a pic of haha

this got me alittle mad!!!! idk how well it will show from this crappy camera but there looks like there was some damage from shipping.... i looked it over and it seem like its just the lip of the end of the basket so there's really no damage.. does anyone think i should contact madisound about this or just take some pliers and bend it back?

next up is alittle defect on the same sls. looks like some paint peeled and theres alittle rust so it must have been like this from factory... it doesnt really bother me but i still might contact madisound and see what they might do about it

just sent an email to [email protected], i hope i can get this resolved shortly. in person the damage doesn't look significant at all, just alittle bend in the outer flange. everything else lines up just fine...

i thought the packaging could have been better when i opened the box but i was in a hurry to get to work and didn't think to check for little imperfection till i was taking the photos.

madisound took care of everything, sent out my new sls friday and ill be returning the damaged one to them. no progress today, but ill try to make a trip to HD or lowes for the 3 inch endcaps that will be used for the fullranges. ill probably slap them in soon and run the pg rsd mids for my midbass as i start to fab my new baffles.

it seems someone or something is telling me that i must get these 8's in my doors now haha... yesterday my gf closed my door alittle hard and the old baffle holding my pg mid fell off... i think it got kicked (since i have no door panels on right now..) and the liquid nail just gave up haha... ill use real wood glue next time...

so anyways im getting the speakers in Wednesday and then Thursday i plan to work on my amp rack and other odds and ends.

another question to sls owners, how much power does it take to get these sls's moving? it looks like their suspension is pretty stiff.... and my amp, kicker 250.2 will only be putting out like 50-60 rms at 8 ohms... i could add a second 250.2 relatively cheap if i need too

and to update my sls shipping damage ordeal, ill be receiving my new sls tuesday (today)!!!

The Kicker should get them going pretty well. Don't buy into worrying about the 8 ohm thing, it isn't a concern. Sure they aren't pro-audio efficient, but they also actually have low end

thanks m5, ill probably have the baffles made up for the 8s and the 3s will be installed tomorrow. ill let glue and stuff like that dry over night and stick the 8s in on thursday. wish me luck haha... i might need it

ummmm sooo i failed at the pictures guys... sorry bout that... anyways, i did get some work done tho!

i did the baffles for the doors, im 99% sure they will work haha. spacing is alittle tight, however, and i wouldn't consider myself a very good at that kinda stuff. all the glue is drying so ill be finishing up tomorrow.

only 2 pic...

first one is the bottem piece of the baffle. i had to drill holes in the door metal so i can bolt the baffle on. i finished the baffle but forgot to take a pic. (they look kinda ugly anyways... not my best work)

next is a pic of my door panel's little deadening job. i later glued the factory stuff back on over it (i think its called jute?). but i forgot to take pics of that again...

tomorrow i'll get out a real camera for the final assembly and everything.

haha ya, i dont really care what they look like, they just have to hold them big ass sls's to my door... ill be hitting them with a shit load of modeling clay aswell. (if i can find the good stuff, my previous attempt was in the middle of winter and the clay didnt hold to well )
