hey john I have a question did you get a chance to play with these woofer on a spl level as well. I have the death penalty 12's and my box is 5 cu ft with 102 sq. in port by 39L it's supposed to be tuned to 37 hz if I shrink down the port to recomended how much spl do you thinkI will lose or will it stay the same my box originally had DD subs in it the DP's act a little funny in this enclosure. what do you suggest

How come there are no sealed recommendations for the Death Penalty series? How will they sound sealed? SQ and loudness wise....

Uh, because it is not recommended.... If you want SQ that is what the Flatlyne is for :fing34:

It's not because of SQ, it's for the same reason the DR is ported only, it's because the sub isn't designed for sealed. Can it be used in a sealed enclosure, sure. It's against IA recommendations, and most likely will cause your warranty to be void.

My DR is ported and still sounds wonderful. It's all in the enclosure.

Sealed 1.4 cubes - 2.0 cubes

Ported 2.5 cubes - 3.5 cubes, 30 - 45 Inches of Port, 28-35 Hz

most likely building two ports one daily one spl. Just need loud for sbn

Daily: just going to say 30hz so you won't miss anything on those bass cds, rap, and so forth.

SPL: Your going to want to do some testing, otherwise try 40hz or so.
