Parallel or Series, which yields better results?

I'm assuming if i had one of those woofer testers to pull the T/S parameters of a speaker, it would pull different specs if i took a single DVC subwoofer and tested it wired in series, then tested it again in parallel.

Well, i dont have one so i'm gonna rely on those experienced here to relay some info to me.

I will be using 4 subwoofers, 2 subwoofers per amp.

Each pair of subs are dual 1 ohm.

I have 2 ways of wiring this-

1 - Parallel both subs then series them to the amp

2 - Series both subs then parallel them to the amp

Is there a difference in SPL potential between the 2? this info is pertaining to a meter, not the ear.

I notice when looking at specs of subs, in general, when comparing their Dual 1 and Dual 2 versions, Dual 1s have less MMS, higher efficiency, but lower BL.

Is this what to expect if i parallel then series them? Educate me.

The mms is lower on D1's because there is less weight in coil winding. Option 2 - Series both subs then parallel them to the amp because running the subs in parallel will yield a higher Bl.

Inductance and BL are halved when wired in parallel and doubled in series. Only difference.

ok, if my impedance rise in my install is high enough to wire down to 0.17 ohms(all parallel), this will yield a very low BL then correct? i must be very careful.

burps and bass race.

For bass race, i highly doubt i could ever wire down to 0.17 ohms on a 1ohm stable amp so this is purely focused for burps.

Wire however you want. I wouldn't be too concerned about motor force or cone control.

I think there is a phasing issue with wiring subs in series. At least I've read that it's better to wire voice coils in series and the subs in parallel than to do the opposite. Not sure if it would matter in your scenario or not. Somewhat easy to test, though.

No phasing issues. Even if there was it would be as simple as switching the leads.

I mean more minute phasing issues, like maybe 5 degrees of difference. I would assume from the signal getting to one sub then having to travel another length of wire to the other sub.

Actual motorforce, per TC knowledge is BL^2 / Re. That's why BL measured with coils in series is double the measurement with coils in parallel.

I wouldn't worry too much about it when bass racing.

For burps I'd go as low as possible. Take a low-power impedance graph and it's over what the amp is stable at you could run it for bass race too.

Lots of people are burping the AB200.1 at 0.25 nominal. The AQ 3500D is a step up from it in terms of power supply, meaning it should behave better at low impedances. And at all impedances for that matter
