Batteries in vehicle?

Recommended Posts

I was telling my dad how i am going to buy another battery for my truck soon, for audio, and he said that he thinks putting the battery in the cab is illegal? I'm not sure why it would be and i have seen almost everyone on here put them in the cab.

Is it illegal? I live in Texas if that helps.

i dont know about state laws like that but i do know if u want to put a battery in the cab with you, make sure it's 100% sealed so it doesnt vent off any gas while charging\discharging.

Look for AGM type batteries.

The only thing I think they could make a law about is if it was just setting loose and would be a hazard if in an accident. /shrug

I think what your dad would be referring to as someone said above, would be if the battery could cause an accident. In other words if it was a regular type of battery that you would buy from any auto store and put under your hood: it could fall over and leak on everything in the back of the car. This happened one time to an ignorant person I knew real well when his bat-out-of hell wife decided to take the car on a joy ride one night. It leaked all over his 2000 watt amp! Your dad may not know the specs on the D3100 that you want to buy. Assure him that it can be mounted in a large amount of different areas and there is no way it could spill.

To be safe call the DMV because there are some funny laws on the books. This could be something that had to do with home build cars.

Shouldn't be a law against it, and I doubt they are going to enforce it if there is. How many people are going to put extra batteries in their cars, not too many.
