Rushnrun's Dodge Ram 1500 install

I don't need to really. It's double layer 3/4" MDF all the way around. Resin all over the inside. It's it VERY srtong. The box won't flex AT ALL

I mean the back wall of my truck hah

my cab hits the bed of the truck while it's playing--I'm going to make a rubber "gasket" to keep it from touching.. not to mention that the topper is getting smacked as well.. there's no paint left where the topper is close to the cab... :)

just get the baffle sealed off from the rear of the truck and you shouldn't have any issues...

ouch that's no fun... iv got a sneaking suspicion my sun roof may start leaking soon i feel your pain.

Well with the woofers I am buying, one is brand new re-cone and one is a few weeks used. So i put the new in already, to loosen it up, with the other hole covered up. Even already it's louder and lower then any other setup I have ever had. lol

With all the screws I put into the back wall It's no moving at all ;)

So you screwed into the cab itself??? I'm confused......

***on the other note... my current box was louder with a single woofer and an open woofer-hole than my test box was... it did 145's without the second woofer being in the baffle... (at a much higher frequency.. like 62-63hz...)

I've had my son for a few days so I haven't gotten anything done... if I try to build he wants to help.. He's super clumsy and doesn't mind when you're not looking, he'll just turn something on and try to use it... (wether it be a saw, sander, ect... if dad can do he can... or he thinks...)

He starts school next week so he'll be back with his mom and I'll be back to playing.

Yup, screwed from inside the box into the back wall.

Why was the woofa not there?

OK that's what I thought you meant... hopefully it doesn't flex enough to tear the sheet metal...

*** I only had one woofer built and installed so I figured I'd mess with it..

My son's mom just picked him up so guess I can get busy..

should be picking up the new SPL car tomorrow! :)

I don't have any good vids of the flex. my camera is too slow--doesn't even look like it moves in the vids. the windshield goes pretty good, as well as the back glass (which fell out--re-gooped it in--still holding) the sides, doors and everything else on the truck flex pretty good. the back of the cab moves enought that it hits the bed and the topper..

20hz is even better.. 145ish db and 24 hz is 148ish they're all very taxing on the truck.. snapped the rearview mirror off playing 24hz---not the glue--it broke the metal shaft in half :D every thing in my overhead display is broken.. barely holds to the roof--had to use drywall screws to put it back up when it fell.

I'll try to come up with a better camera to take better vids. I'm pulling everything out tomorrow to do some adjusting and bracing--the box has no bracing at all.

after it's done I'll put it back in to test to see where and what I gained. this needs to be 155ish db atleast before I'm happy.

probably will go with 4 of the dmx 12's on the 4 pack of amps

we'll see where the 15's get first though.

If u r looking for lots of low end u might want to try out the Icons. They drop low and dirty lol. They really like 25htz and lower. I've never seen any sub drop like the icons do

man thats great news, not just the the setup but the whole car (very impressive because that lets you know someone admired all your hard work. I would say sell and start over because its not like you cant make another SPL car and hopefully louder than where your at now. good luck on whatever decision you make

I know... REX rules suck...

the guy hasn't bought the truck yet so I'm not sure where it's going anyway.

Awesome setup! Just read it from start to finsh and was a fun read.

Kinda sad to see you let it all go, but if you got it for a good price, then so be it.

Rex............man, I wish you would have kept the truck. So many people use rex's.

Either way, awesome setup!

challenge

2-18's with a wall built for windows open mic on dash vs 2 15's (or my 4 12's if I ever get them in) no-wall built for doors open mic at headrest.....

hmmmmmmmm.....

I Bet Mine will be louder... :) even If I swap and run it in your style of competing :o .. I can play music in the 149range all day (at the headrest) :fing34:

*my dash score is louder btw... :neil:

Tyler'd do it...

Doesn't look like the ram is going anywhere... so should be same ole same.... I'll be working on the box this week.. right now I'm 3db down due to a broken baffle... Darn 20hz waves :) I knew it'd happen somtime with the single baffle and no bracing :D

I also noticed that I forgot to screw the sides down... I was in a hurry when I built it... Just fiberglass holding the sides on :D (other than the screws in the baffle,

****I did find a del sol that I could do a nice 4th order BP in ;):D

**I'll be heading to Vegas soon to visit Jeremy.. so I'm not sure how much I'll get done... I planned on being there on the 10th or so...

Better be tuned hella low to make claims like that.

If you want, I can rebuild everything tuned to 62Hz and call it done.
