Rushnrun's Dodge Ram 1500 install

Recommended Posts

tested my power output today... only getting 1760 watts at 30hz to do the 150+db :)

I switched to one amp today instead of the 4pack and I only lost .2db :o ;D

Looks like I've got some gaining to do...

****no wonder I don't pop fuses... I thought I was just that good this year :P

some pics

spl with only one of the p1500.1's

****I should mention that The 4 pack of amps puts out a ton of power... I just don't gain any output by using them--the low tuning and large size of the box hinders the mechanical ability of the woofer--they really get to moving at that low frequency (they're only suppose to be in 2 cubes each-so they're more than double)

box will be rebuilt and re-tuned... I shouldn't be burping at 30hz for SPL :D More impressive to do a 50 at 30hz than 60 hz though ;)

hows the flex look at 30hz at 150+db.? any vids of truck flexing?

I don't have any good vids of the flex. my camera is too slow--doesn't even look like it moves in the vids. the windshield goes pretty good, as well as the back glass (which fell out--re-gooped it in--still holding) the sides, doors and everything else on the truck flex pretty good. the back of the cab moves enought that it hits the bed and the topper..

20hz is even better.. 145ish db and 24 hz is 148ish they're all very taxing on the truck.. snapped the rearview mirror off playing 24hz---not the glue--it broke the metal shaft in half :D every thing in my overhead display is broken.. barely holds to the roof--had to use drywall screws to put it back up when it fell.

I'll try to come up with a better camera to take better vids. I'm pulling everything out tomorrow to do some adjusting and bracing--the box has no bracing at all.

after it's done I'll put it back in to test to see where and what I gained. this needs to be 155ish db atleast before I'm happy.

probably will go with 4 of the dmx 12's on the 4 pack of amps

we'll see where the 15's get first though.

thanks! do you do meca as well? I see you have a headrest score posted as well.

**playing "white Girl" I can do a 149.9 *(peak)*

this plays music all day with no issues (due to the low power and low tuning)

Yeah i do meca but i think my main problem is my car. I think if i could brace the roof up some and use a box tuned higher than 30hz id do a lot better. I was going for a groundpounder though and i got that for sure.

Your vehicle isn't an issue.. those can get loud... you're tuned way down from where you need to be.. even at 35 hz tuning you'll see a gain.. you should peak in the 42-45hz range(if memory serves me right) so tuning should be from 35-40 you'd gain a db or two with different tuning. :)

My setup is tuned too low as well.. tuned 24 hz the box peaks in the 30hz range so that's where I burped it at the comp... it's actually louder elsewhere but we'll keep that under wraps till finals ;)

I think my new build will show you how a Ram should be built ;)

let's see it :D

what ORG are you building for?

each one needs a different design to be loud at the mic location..

sealed on the dash is way easier/louder than the meca headrest score... 2-3db louder... I haven't metered mine on the dash but I'm sure it does a pretty little number. :)

doesn't show the flex well... the camera just doesn't show it. the windshield bubbles about 1-1.5" the door skins jump about the same....

oh well... someone will have to see it in person and confirm.

I don't even think Joe paid much attention to it at the show :( geesh joe :)

I am building it for USACi's Street Beat...... but mostly for daily driving and pounding.

damn when did this happen. oh and rush run that setup is looken really mean man.

Also it just hit me mine does peak at 43 so im sure a higher tune would do the trick. I do have a single 15 box tuned a 36 something with alot of port area but i dont wanna run the risk of burping the x-con on 3500-4000 watts.

wish you fellas could see/hear in person.. nothing like 150db in the 26-33hz range *it's over 150 on all those freqs* :) Too bad that has to change to be competitive.. :( Fun while it lasted... nothing like playing a full 20 hz track with no issues ;)

Didn't get it swapped today, ended up watching the nephews instead... they're playing wii at the moment... gotta go guard my TV.. :)

Id love to hear it in person. Mine starts to unload down in the 20s =[ so i cant really do much in that range. you best watch that tv though iv seen plenty of people send them controllers threw the tv before.

Happened last night, with about 4 hours of work. It feels pretty sturdy but I will find out when I put the woofers in.

All I'm worried about is the back wall..........

I don't need to really. It's double layer 3/4" MDF all the way around. Resin all over the inside. It's it VERY srtong. The box won't flex AT ALL

I mean the back wall of my truck hah

my cab hits the bed of the truck while it's playing--I'm going to make a rubber "gasket" to keep it from touching.. not to mention that the topper is getting smacked as well.. there's no paint left where the topper is close to the cab... :)

just get the baffle sealed off from the rear of the truck and you shouldn't have any issues...
