Mark did some testing and if I remember correctly they took high power like that pretty well. They just got a little sloppy.

And as usual the answer depends on the user. If you ignore the signs of stress you could seriously damage them, if you are smart about you can exceed the ratings. Since you ask the question though, I'd be wary of sending them anything more than they are rated for.

I'm not intending to send them 2500 watts.

Im thinking about running them off of a Clif Designs 4800. I was simply curious. Gains will be set low on the amp to ensure longevity.

This is merely a groundpounder build to move lots of air.

i would say they could handle 2000W no problem , i have seen ICONs take 1500 without damage , and they are rated for 1000W,

so yeah buy one and see what they can do

I wouldn't sustain 2500 for a few minutes. Believe me at 1700 each they will still rock your world. If you want to burp them im sure they could handle 2500 or so but there is no sense in it honestly. I really don't think the gain would be worth the risk.

It depends on your box. They may take 2500 watts thermally, but depending on the box that may rip apart the soft parts or bottom the voice coil due to overexcursion.

I would highly suggest against it. The Xcon was not really designed for that much power, nor does it have advanced cooling features like a BTL to with stand sheer overpowering like that for extended periods of time. 1000 watts is more then enough power to really get the Xcon rolling.

Just as long as you know that there is a point where adding more and more power to any speaker, the gains will be less and less. For daily, there is really no real advantage to push the Xcon past it's rms ratting.

This isn't true. You must have this confused with one of the old proto's perhaps. I haven't tested them with this much power.

It wasn't quite 2,500. Did you do 2,000 on them though?
