I had a 08 Fi Bl18 on apprx 1000 watts 7.5 cubes tuned 32hz and I liked the output. I am wondering considering the Bl is a more spl orriented sub and the Fi q is mor sq oriented how much out put am i going to sacrifice if i went with the q. I have now a Fi BL18 09 model fully loaded on ~1500 watts in the same enclosure. I havent heard this one yet as the amp is pending delivery. the next question is would a Incriminator Audio DP 18 in the same box on ~ 1500 watts. would i get the same or more output than the Bl18 and better sq possibly as good as the Q? the reason I ask all this i have no way to audition any of these subs and, Its kinda expensive to just buy 'em to try 'em. any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thnks

Instead of asking about this versus that, perhaps you should describe what you don't like about your current setup and what you'd like to improve. You'll get WAY better answers.

its not so much I dont like anything other than I would maybe like a lil better sq from the subs, If i can find a sub that may give more output with about the same power and a little better sq at the same time that would be great, that is why I was asking about the IA DP series they seem like good subs. and some more output was why I was looking for apprx 1500 watts in the amp. I hope that clarifies

Can you rephrase that without using the term SQ. If SQ is truly your goal I am sure it is the fault of your midbass and not your sub. ie, I have no idea what you are looking for...

On top of that if SQ were truly at all a concern you wouldn't be asking for more output...

um... maybe something that has even better cone control and faster cleaner response. yeah you are right I do need some midbass(suggestions on speakers?) what I am looking for is hard to put into words. I heard a system a while back that had 6 or 8 12" soundstream subs that were like 300 watts rms each and they had a good quick sound to them. IDK if the sound is just gonna be different because of the different cone sizes or what but my Bl is easily as loud as that system but not quite as clean sounding. want the sub to also get a little lower as well so maybe I'll have to redo the box on top of that.

I'd address the box first, that BL should be plenty fast.

ok back to the original question, will I sacrifice alot of output and gain alot of sq with the Q series. and will the Incriminator DP 18 give me more of both?

You like your setup, but you want something new !! I understand it like that!!!!!

Take a look at the SSA XCON (1750 wrms, low end monster........)It may be a good choice for you. Just my 02 cts.

I have never heard it, but only read good reviews about it.

I run a 15" SSA ICON, great great sub, abd I will soon order a XCON 15 for a friend of mine: after a listen to my Icon, he wants his big brother bad :) !

and i dont even know what u mean with SQ off 1500W ... (buy a 10" sub @ like 300W) ...

...i would in your case look @ the IA Fl series(SQ) ....cause DP can get loud and low ...but ... definitely not a SQ sub !

btw. what car and whats your front system ...

You can gain output and lose SQ or vice versa, it all depends on the box.

At what listening level are you concerned with SQ. Full output, low, or both?

I am looking for sq mostly at lower volume. but when I really crank it up the sq doesnt and is not gonna be fantastic but I still want it too sound as good as possible

Aha, just as I thought. Sounding as good as possible is very, very far from the definition of SQ.

If you really want your system to be able to sound really good from an SQ standpoint and be able to get loud when you want IMO you should build a fart box for your BL and then add a little 200w amp and an SQ driver. Setup a switch to go between and dial your staging and everything based on the SQ setup. When you want output switch.

this is how i see it:

with the power, get a death row, if you have over 1500 then get a DP. bl and death row are both 1000rms, so keep that in mind.

I agree with Sean, at this point let's find out what is not working with your mids and consider building a new box for the BL before buying new drivers. "SQ" and output might not improve by just switching drivers.

And possibly get worse. Install makes a HUGE difference

any suggestions on a better box? and I was considering the mach 5 6.5 midbass drivers and a 2 channel 100 watt/ channel amp for em possibly some kick panels. would that be a goos direction to go to for more detailed sound? also, any Ideas for a better box

if you listen to rap and feel the 32 hz tuning is a little flat and not punchy sounding try tuning higher like 36-38hz it will give it a punchier sound and sound as if you have better lowend due to a noticeable diffrence between higher and lower freq. i have tried many subs in many boxes and personally i like a 36hz-38hz tuning for rap music. i have tried low tuning and while it is nice for other music it just seems a little flat on rap due to higher freq in the songs normally 40-50hz range with lowes in the mid 30's

I am having a hard time with the better cone control and faster response. There shouldn't be any speed issue with your current driver. Are there particular songs that it stumbles on?
