Recommended Posts

i went to my local car audio shop today and they had a good deal on this beefy 15 inch sub. its a razor zsoft. the guy who owns the shop gets em built i've heard. anyways..the sub says its a 4ohm. what kind of amp do i need to get this thing seeing atleast 400 rms. if anyone can toss a link i'd appreciate it because im ready to order an amp right now. i have an ebay account so if you can find me something like autotek or hifonics on there i'd like that..those amps sound okay and dont cost alot.

Is it single 4 ohm or dual 4 ohm? What is the "RMS" rating on the sub?

does it have 2 + and - or just 1 + and -?

if it has 2 of each then you want an amp that gives about that amount of power at 2 ohms. If it just has 1 set of each then you want an amp that gives that power at 4 ohms.

Then you want an amp that does 400 watts @ 2 ohms. Look under "mono" amps, those are for the subs.

get an amp that does about 400 watts at 2ohms and you should check out some used equipment on CA.com, ROE, or CACO. It may be cheaper to find a hifonics on there. I actually got a hifonics 1608d (new on CA.com) for about the same price as the hifonics 600 watt amp on ebay.

Kicker amps are good, but their subs are only good for getting loud....but if thats what you want to do, then go for it.
