GOod job guys.

They are both ready sans cone. The one with the basket has three stripped screws.... Time to buy an extractor kit finally.

That is one big tennis ball ...

:) Basketball size. Dunno where it came from exactly... but it's been in the house for a few months.

LoL. PM me Your addy again.

Why not? 15" Recones will be here in a week or so, and I have no 12" designs built that I want to use. :)

Nobody answered my question. BOO! Oh well. Someone will bite.

We should have a big quiz on this stuff.

On another note, I can tell you, I hate removing the motor/screws from the basket. Hardest damn screws to ever remove IMO. They always strip. Why can;t someone use a damn bolt or a socket head?

LMAO, NO chit!

Actually, the one basket came of nice and easy. the screwgun spun them right out. The other, had some resin based glue dripped over each screw head... three of them sumfemale doges stripped. Picking up a reverse thread drill bit today.

Your question...? On overall Q? Honestly, i can make a couple of guesses... But I've been slacking on my gaussation studies. :(

I imagine that with a sealed backplate the flux is much more dense on the "backstroke" and therefore acting as a soft limiter on the moving assembly. But I dont have FEA or any other fun software to model it. :( With these quad stiff spiders and that kind of bl/re, i imagine a vented pole would drop the Q from where it's at now. So... Last update for a while for the truck.

SPL has become 3rd on the priority list - meaning the truck will not see any more burps for a while.

I had to have some kind of sub-stage though... so Uber it is :D

4.8ft, 42in of port tuned to ~34hz. Orion 2500D (for now). Box is still rough and ugly (I tore down the DD box aforementioned and rebuilt it into this). After a few days of trial period, if this box design stays, I'll make her pretty.

Please bare in mind that the IMP figures shown are incorrect. The map was the important part for me. ;)

and, i couldnt help but do some SPL testing. Wierds me out, but the peak freq. dropped an octave ( ), instead of 48-50hz, its now in the 36-39hz range. I did very LIMITED testing though - only bout 1/2 hour - so <shrug>

With the deck at my "musical" setttings (EQ, high/low passes) she knocked out a 142.2 @ 37hz with an actual 1208wrms from the Orion 2500D. 4.59 actual DCR on a warm motor (wired to 1.6ohm nominal).

After 1/2 an hour of testing at this level, the Uber was too warm for my comfort - so NO testing done with the "burp" settings. Prolly would picked up a few dBs though.

For reference, I'd gotten the DD9915 w/(2) 2500D's up to ~148 on full tilt.

:+1:

I might've been able to get her up to 145ish, the smell started so, I stopped testing.

It's harder to put up dB's at lower frequencies as well... so a 142 @ 36/37hz makes me much happier then a 145 @ 48-50hz. This box also runs about 1/2 as much port area as i would normally start with for spl.

Sounds badass as well. Lost a touch of accuraccy from the 1.2ish ft sealed she was in... but sounds a helluva alot better then anything that i've heard in quite some time. Even though i have smoked my rear midbass woofers... I have the Uber rolling off around 65hz to help make it up. :D

I'm impressed.

LOL - its in the blood.

If I dialed the HU up she would've been louder. The tests were done with my version of the "natural" EQ settings / no BBE / no Loud / and sub level -2 notches.

With other woofers, the settings were more similar to the "SuperBass" EQ with +2 BBE among other things. ;)

I took a short trip to take a friend to buy a car. About 45minutes each way. All in all, this is a low end headache. My truck is no small arena... but You may as well have been sitting on a jackhammer for some songs - She's got output. :)

I've dialed her down quite a bit and she blends perfectly now (except that I have no mids right now - there is a hole in my install from ~70-180hz for blown midbasses) and sounds great.

I am already leaning towards putting the Uber back in the house and letting her sit until the distant HT project. It's still a bit much for me to drive daily. LoL

You telling me that = forces me to build a ported enclosure for it.

I highly recommend that You at least try it. Make up a simple big ported and drive it for a few days - a week. If it's too much (vs. Your sealed now), pull it out. If You love it, do the full 1/2 wall install :D :D
