4 Fi 18" Btl Fully Loaded

Recommended Posts

What up SSA I want to first say that IF ANYONE HAS THE NEW FULLY LOADED 18" FI BTL'S I AM LOOKING TO BUY. I WILL VERIFY WEATHER THEY ARE FULLY LOADED I HAVE MY SOURCES TRUST ME.

I have a couple of questions for the crowd and if you don't like this question or heard it before simply don't bother being a prick about it I simply want to gain some knowledge we all have to sometime. Anyway I currently own a 1994 chevy suburban and I want to take only the third seat out to make room for 4 18" Fi Btl's. I have 2 Kole audio 5500 amplifiers and they are ran by the kicker 1/0 gauge amp kit. I want to know what I have to do to really get my future subs to bang like the beasts they are without blowing them. How many batteries do I need? How many alternators do I need? Do I need a capacitor? How much Dynomat? Epicenter or no? What type of box? etc. Oh yeah and I want them at 1 ohm. Lastly what is the universal option? And yes I do want to keep my a/c and heat, someone told me I would have to give up heating and air to bump like I want to but I just don't believe that. Should I strap my amps or not? Ok really this is the last question. What button does steve meade have thats cool? I am not stupid I'm just in the learning process.

OH YEAH FOR A BRAND NEW FI 18" ON FICARAUDIO.COM FULLY LOADED WITH SHIPPING COSTS 509.00 OR SOMEWHERE AROUND THAT. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO SELL IT USED PLEASE KNOW THAT I AM NOT PAYING THE SAME PRICE THAT I COULD FOR ONE BRAND NEW. BE REASONABLE AND NO DEFECTS WHAT SO EVER PLEASE.

Youre going to need new amps.

Batteries depends on which batteries you buy.

You'll need at least one upgraded alternator, if not two.

No to the capacitor.

Sound deadening material soley depends on you and your tahoe.

Type of box? A big one. A big ported one.

Universal allows the subs to be reconed to whichever ohm you want.

What you need to do is read and research. What you want is very expensive and thats a lot of money to lose if you fudge something up.

you are IN NO WAY ready for 4 18 inch btls..

unless your ready to change all of your thinking and have 10 grand to spare.

For a minimum you are going to need some real power (batteries) which would run you around ~1000 if you did it properly with proper batteries. You would also need at least 2 HO ALTS, that's ~600. You need some new amps for sure, that will cost you at least 3,000 for new amps. Then multiple runs of 0 gauge, ~2.50 a foot.

Then after dynamat, new front stage mids / highs to even maybe keep up is going to cost you over 1k.

So just prepare to spend ~10,000.

Unless you just want a bunch of underpowered BtL's in a 1 layer 3/4 inch mdf box with no front stage to keep up... then you are just looking at the price of the subs and 4 sheets of MDF.... no make that 8 because that box will need to be AT LEAST double 3/4 inch MDF.

what do you mean change my thinking and y 10 grand?

$2000 - 4 fully loaded btls

$1630 - 2 sundown 3500 amps (yours wont cut it for long)

$1000 - batteries. one large battery per sub

$1000 - dual high output alternators

$1000 - enough dynamat to do a suburban (fully)

$500 - 1/0 wire at $4 per foot

$250 - assorted terminals, fuse holders, etc

$250 - 3/4 mdf at $25 per sheet

thats $7630 and ive only put about 2 minutes worth of thought into it. add in shipping for the above items and itll be higher.

dont try to compete with meade. if you ask "why 10 grand", youll never reach his status

Hey guys thanks for the tips I will be selling those amps shortly. I don't look to be in the same ranks as Meade but even he had to start somewhere. I blame money. HA HA HA HA

If you're not competing in competition why would you need 4 18's, I say keep what ya got and go with 2 18's or 3 15's and that will be more enough for a daily driver

i mean dont get me wrong steve was who lead me to fi... fi to this fourm.. i bought fis. and then sundowns.

my point is.. what he does is great.. but there is no reasons to try and do what he did.. he has COUTLESS dollors in his truck. and im gonna tell you right now that HE didnt pay for everything in that truck.

there is no reason for that kinda power in a daily ride.. and im not talkin down.. but i can tell you have never sat in somthing that loud. otherwise you would agree.

so lets start with your goals.

I look to do some competition and I wont be another meade ryder. I am thinking 4 18" Fi Q's or BL's which is better? I would like to try out the amps I got.

Why are you so set on 4 18s?

Start slow man. The more you spend, the more you stand to lose since you are somewhat new to this.

Why not go with 2 18s? You can always throw two more back there some other time.

I said to change your amps because there's no way those Koles are putting out the 3200 watts that they claim when they only cost $300 new. Id try to get them clamped or find out what they actually put out before deciding on subs.

You're just looking at the price of the subs. There are a lot of additions when building a system, especially with BTLs since they need so much power. You're looking at 8k watts, and thats not burping them. You really just need to read and research.

kole is SO funny...

4 ohmX 1 = 1200 watts,.

2 ohms x1 = 1700 watts.

1 ohm x1 = 2200 wATTS.......

MAX POWER 4000 watts??????????

how in the hell... where and how in the world is this gonna make 4000 wattts..... and how do i wire down to "max power"

I say you start with a Q 15 or even a BL 15. The BL with a sundown saz-1500d will get really loud and the only think you would really need is to do the big three and a battery in the back. and you will save alot of money. Then you can just upgrade and put another 15 in there if you want.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will go with 4 18" Fi Q's instead of the BTL's. I will save money and I do need to start some where. I like 18" subwoofers because I have personally owned subwoofers ranging from 12" to 18" and I love deep bass not just loud bass and I just want 18" subs. oh yeah and I can use the amps I got and upgrade later when I get more experienced. I am starting with one 18" Q I just ordered it. With the yellow dustcap and the BP option.
