Which subs/Amp

Recommended Posts

Ok so i'm changing the substage again. I also changed jobs. I work for a shop now that sells mostly cadence and RE/US Amps. Mainly RE for subs and cadence for mids and highs. So i'm looking at a system rebuild. Probably XXX comps for my Mids and hi's I only have a front stage. Gonna leave the Sundown SAX100.4 on them for the time being. So heres where it boils down.

I'm looking to make some NOISE minimum 150s but be able to blend them into the system as well for daily driving. I'm looking at either 2 SX 10s or possibly 1 XXX or MX 12.

My car really doesn't want to handle 2kw daily but we gonna make it work. Getting at least 1 kenetic 2400 probably for the back and i already have an honda sized optima yellow top under the hood with all 1/0 guage wire. The stock alternator is WEAK. I might look into getting it rewound down the road if i decide to keep the car.

So I'm asking for advice on the subs and amp combo. Like to keep it in the US Amps family. If you have any input greg that would be great. Or perhaps i'll just give you a call later if i have some time.

It's going in my Honda Fit. Behind teh back seat port and woofer firing up. Should have plenty of room for which ever setup we go with.

The Goal. Get loud when i want to shut people down or compete (aka show all the people around here what 2 10s or 1 12 is really capable of. And blow all the kicker 15s out). Sound good when i'm just jammin. I really like the LOW LOWs I'd like to be able to play 20 and 30s with Authority. If you feel me. I guess its hard to explain. Sorry i realize i started rambling about half way through

Personally, and what i plan on doing is running a 12 XXX off of an MD3.

My cousin has this setup in his 4runner, and it hits the lows very nicely.

Great sub, could handle a lot more power. But in reference to the numbers

you plan to achieve, quite possible, but really couldn't tell you. Setup has not

yet been metered, and all install dependent. XXX in a 2.2ft^3 tuned to 34hz.

yeah i feel ya. I had talked to greg on the phone awhile back and he said the XXX is NOT a competition sub. Its a SQ sub that just gets loud as a by product. Where as the SX are more prone to get loud.

If your feeling creative I can do a box for 2 SX15's for a honda but you HAVE to upgrade that alt. The MD3D can draw upto 240 amps. Factory on most hondas is 70.

I'm not really a 15 fan. I have run 18s before and that was ok. But i'm thinkin 12s max. One of my customers came by yesterday and he has a MX12 in his 4door ford truck that we built a ported box for and put on a MD2D. Man that chit was loud

If you're looking for 150's....you might what to look into a pair of 15"s like stated earlier. Most likely not gona do it with a single 12 or pair of 10's on just 2000 watts.

i dont see any pair of 10's or single 12 playing 150's and still digging deep into the 20's and 30's. ive seen many pair of 10's and single 12 setups get loud my buddy has a set of bl 10's doing a 150 but all the ones ive ever seen near 150 have all been tuned high and wont do 20's and 30's with authority. if you want sick lows get sick lows use a xxx, just dont think you will get 150's. in the right setup i could see low 140's and still great lows with a 12 xxx tuned to high 20's and plenty of power. 140's is louder than you think and loud lows sound louder than they meter.

Cool, thanks for the input. I guess 150s might be out of reach with a what i'm looking for. But like you said 140s is loud. I was metering 145.9 on my last setup. And it was nice and loud. But i was lacking the authority on the LOWs. We'll see. I'll look into it some more and see what i come up with. I'd really like to go back with Incriminator. But at the same time i wanna rep the products i carry now.
