CDT ES-620=ZERO MIDBASS

Recommended Posts

my doors are fully deadend and have been running the cdt es-620's in my truck for 3 weeks with constant play and i still dont see alot of midbass. hell my infinity kappa perfects have more midbass!!! i researched the forums about which components were best for metal and the cdt's got the highest vote. i dont see how, they have great mid range but lack on low end drop tune guitar. i want to feel the guitar!!!

I had a choice between DLS and CDT for my friends car

I heard 2 CDT installs ( CL and EF) and i was like...ehh, where is the mid bass ?

so... i picked DLS, never hearing them before.

They definetly have more midbass with way less watts than the CDT's need.

i like the mid range but there is something lacking. im sure these components would sound gret for jazz or classical, but im looking foe something aggressive. i guess i got to blow 800 dollars on some neo horns and pair them up with my idq8's. im sick of buying components and being disappointed :madsign:

basically choosing a front stage is a lot of trial and error. the only suggestion i can make is to listen to as many vehicles as possible and find out what other people with the same vehicle are running (other than stock).

i want my car to sound like some good cerwin vega house loud speakers. my buddy has some old cerwin vega floor speakers(1 15" 6" mid,and tweet) and those speakers have killer midbass and loend. i want to duplicate that sound in my truck. im also sick of having to crank my system to make it sound good

sounds like you need some dedicated midbass my friend.

try a 3 way setup with the mid\tweet from the CDT set, and a pair of 6.5" midbass woofers in the doors (components in kicks). you will have to do a little fiberglassing, but its fun.

look at the RE XXX6.5, adire extremis 6.5, and koda6 - i think there are a few more, and if you wanna go with 8" midbass - look at the IDQ, crystal CMP, adire koda, ascendant8(soon), soundsplinter rl-i8(soon), and maybe a few more. but you will want them up front if possible, and in the doors if possible.

active (3 way?) Xover is your friend. but you only will NEED a crossover to blend with that mid.

i have a 2 idq8's laying around-i've always wanted to run horns with those. problem is those id cd-2 neo horns are $800.00!!! i dont have room at all in my kicks(2003 S-10) to run a 3 way. well i could run a shallow 3"/4" mid in the side kicks but i've been told the idq8's and cd-2 neo's is all i need. i listen to metal and i've always dreamed of a car sounding like a P.A or a killer home audio system. think the idq8's and cd-2 neos will get me there?

Idq is a subwoofer. IT's better left as that and not a midbass driver. DO like Effendi suggested and find a DEDICATED midbass. And get one that is tailored to your application. Just becuase a door is fully deadened means nothing in terms of how a driver is going to respond. I feel something is lacking in your installation of them. Perhaps you have them out of phase? Perhaps they are not fully sealed from front to back? Perhaps your crossover points are screwy? Why don't you give us some more info on your setup?

even though ur doors are deadened, u might also try a pair of baffles. by "enclosing" ur mids, ur in effect reinforcing the response. and baffles are a bit more effective then just deadening the doors.

of course running the 8's up front with a set of kicks would rock! if,worse case scenerio, is run 8's in ur doors and a 4" componet set in ur dash...

idq8's subwoofers? lets see turn the speaker upside down and read the label-" midbass driver". i have a S-10 the only way you run kicks in my truck is to remove the parking brake-whick is stupid. also i have my cdt's in a very good baffle(birch and resin) the cdt's just aren't good for metal-i also read on oppions.com about the speakers not sounded good for metal. of course i read this after i bought the damn things. for what i listen to they just want work for me.

I am going to tell you from experience with the CDT line that they love the baffles. Without them they are worthless for mid-bass responce, adding the baffles are an easy way to fix the problem. Try it you wont regret it,

i already have them in a baffle!!!! you couldnt fit them in my door without the baffles. the cdt's play loud and distort distort at high volume levels and provide more midbass than most-lacking on the lower drop tune guitar notes. i dont hear that low end ring of the guitar-should've just went with idq8's and cd-2 neo horns in the first place. i had wishful thinking there actually was a component out there that could handle the aggressive tunes i listen to-guess not

Aggressive tunes? Like? Slpiknot, mudvayne, danzig, no one, Scrape, tool, APC, fear factory.

All of those are my harder end listening. And on each set of comps, when I baffled them they all get down to the 55-65hz range without distortion.

I stand corrected. When did ID make the IDq as a midbass?

the ones i have they dont make any more-this summer id is coming out with the new idq6 and idq8. also id hasn't made the idq8 in several years.thats why when people see them on ebay they jump all over them.trust me the id8 and idq6 are dedicated midbass drivers.heres a link-please tell me what the frame says on the bottom.

The IDQ8s are nice for midbass and should be adequate, but you may want to find something else if you're wanting it to play up to about 1.5khz (for headroom).
