Recommended Posts

i plan on buying a sundown 2000D mono amplifier .. they will be powering 2 12 inch FI BLs and at 1 ohm. i have a stock alternator and battery and i wanna know how i should go about this. i know caps are bogus ive read the forums so i was thinking about replacing the stock battery with a kinetic one. would this be enough or would i need more ? i strained the alternator on my last car to the point were i cudnt start the car anymore i deffinitly dont want that happening again. all help is apreciated

agree with him, but caps aren't bogos they just don't have enough capatitance to be cost effective. In other words it would be like hooking a bunch of d cell flashlight batteries in series to get 12 volts to power your radio. It'll do it it just won't last long.

Upgrade your primary battery first AND do the big3. (For more information on the big3, see the technical section of the site.) If that doesn't work, add a secondary battery in the trunk. The only time I recommend a cap is if you're trying to impress your Hot Import Night buddies.

If that isn't enough, look into a HO alternator. (Ohio Generator, Mechman, Excessive Amperage, Iraggi)

thanks for the help guys im gonna go with the bigger battery i think that might be easier on my money than a new alternator and well see if that works and ill wire one in the trunk also

I would definitely do the Big 3, in more then one occasion in my personal experience that went a long way to helping with electrical issues and dimming. I worked at valvoline and replaced my 450 cca battery with the biggest 850 cca I could get, and did my big 3 in 0g, it made a HUGE difference

is your stock batt good?

it may help with electrical if you got a batt to throw in the trunk so its not all on just your main batt.

I think you should just add an extra battery to the back preferably a powermaster D3100 and upgrade your wiring and do the big 3 and you should be good
