PPI DCX122 ???

Recommended Posts

Ok I have been very curious about PPI since DEI came around, I know very little about the amplifers, and even less about their new subs, so to start with I was wondering about the DCX subs, I talked to Shane a little and he suspected that these are very similar to the Orion H2, just some different internals and soft parts, possibily some motor (DGM), the thing is that the rattings for power specs are lower than the H2, so that could justify the different parts, anyone know anything about this sub?

i saw a pic of its motor, and it most certainly does have the dual gap motor. its got a thick slug for the bottom, then a 'mid plate' and then 4 or 6 small round slugs in one layer on top of that, then another top plate.

probably a longer VC that both plates are pulling on. dunno how well they work or the quality of those subs, ive never seen anyone use them... im surprised PPI\DEI is still around, i really dont see any- if at all- people using their [new] stuff anymore.

well PPI was on the expensive side forever, and when car audio really started becoming mainstream, people did not under stand the high cost of their amplifers and subs, just like SoundStream, Xtant, and Zapco have all put out a lower line,

from what I understand PPI sorta was not putting out much for about a year, then the DEI movement and all new amplifers and subs just came out not too long ago, I have seen these subs in a few magazines, but nothing out side of that,

cost on ebay has been less than the Orion H2 from what I have seen, personally I have always liked PPI because I was always impressed with their older amplifers, but I am not sure if the DEI presence now means with Viper audio gone, are the Directed and PPI amplifers just the same thing on the same boards with just different names? it would seem like the big coorporation tpe of thing to do, reduce production costs and just rebadge many products, heck GM does it everyday and people get suckered all the time
